Medal of Honor Warfighter in October; Preorder Bonuses

The Medal of Honor Blog officially announces Medal of Honor Warfighter, saying Danger Close's recently revealed continuation of the military shooter series will be released on October 23rd for Windows, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. The new game will take players on missions all around the globe as they once again play a U.S. Tier 1 Operator. The announcement also has word on the bonuses that come if you preorder the Medal of Honor Warfighter Limited Edition:

The game follows the 2010 Medal of Honor reboot that moved the series out of World War II into war-torn Afghanistan and introduced the U.S. Tier 1 Operator. Medal of Honor Warfighter goes beyond Afghanistan and takes the fight to the enemy in missions that have a dotted line to real world events. From rescuing hostages in the Philippines to eliminating the pirate threat on the Somali Coast, the game is an up close and personal look into the fight against today’s global terror threat. Written by U.S. Tier 1 Operators while deployed overseas, Medal of Honor Warfighter delivers an aggressive, gritty and authentic experience that puts gamers in the boots of the world’s most precise and disciplined warriors.

Medal of Honor Warfighter tells the personal story of U.S. Tier 1 Operator “Preacher,” as he returns home only to find his family torn apart from years of combat deployment. Trying to pick up the pieces and salvage what remains of his marriage, Preacher is reminded of what he’s fighting for - family. But when a deadly explosive known as PETN penetrates civilian borders and his two worlds collide, Preacher and his fellow teammates are sent in to do what they do best – solve the problem.

Players that pre-order the Medal of Honor Warfighter Limited Edition* will unlock the U.S. Navy SEAL Tier 1 Sniper class on day one of launch. This multiplayer unlock** saves an estimated 40-hours of time that would normally be required to unlock the operator. Medal of Honor Warfighter Limited Edition is available on Origin.com and other participating retailers. Visit the Limited Edition Details page for more information.

* Available while supplies last.
** Internet connection required.

The single player in the first one wasn't bad (in fact I liked that the events and characters were based on real-life) but it was just way too short and a bit too arcadey for my tastes.

If they made it less like CoD and more like GRAW (PC) - and made sure the single player campaign was longer, I'd definitely buy it.

Can't be any worse than Battlefield 3's single player.

That's a pretty shitty preorder bonus. Why would someone want to take content away from themselves with that bonus? Just like paying money for MP unlocks in Mass Effect 3... you're paying to deprive yourself of the "fun" (at times) grind for money in the MP.

I'd honestly be surprised if this wasn't bundled with some garbage beta invite or something, to try and boost sales after the last game.

The last game's single-player wasn't bad, just kind of short. Multiplayer was very ho-hum, and offered no reason to play it instead of Bad Company 2 or Modern Warfare 2. No idea who thought it would be a good idea to compete on that front... Playing MOH online was only popular back in the day until Battlefield and Call of Duty came along and did it better. Very, very dumb of EA to try to compete with their own online FPS juggernaut, BF3. Well-done campaigns, on the other hand, are always welcome, so they should just be focusing on that.

It costs £40 ($63)?! This is exactly why people despise EA. Perhaps that would be understandable if we were talking about Skyrim but not for this abortion of a game. The original was dire and I expect less from the sequel, given that DICE won't be helping out this time. The majority of games release at less than £30 in the UK, yet EA is charging way over the odds even though it's cheaper for them to distribute it digitally.

PS - EA finally added the option to hide unwanted games to Origin, as prior to that I couldn't remove the Battlefield 3 Beta - it was just clogging up my games selection. Not that I've actually bought any games on Origin; I just registered all my EA Steam games, which amounted to 20 titles. I still don't like Origin yet, as browsing your games is still pretty poor - it's either massive or slightly less massive. And the download process is still too long winded, with EULAs, language selections and other annoying crap (not that Steam is great either).

You'd think people would be tired of the repetition of these games by now. The next one will be titled MOH-COD: Deja-Vu.

LOL yea!

egads.... this starting to feel/look much like the ww2 glut we had to endure. Basic same ol same ol story, different playable character. I bet the CGI scenes will be very similar too.

I wonder if it will be on Steam or be another case of EA being petty and spiteful. I don't care about the game, but I'm interested insofar as I want to see if my theory about EA's exclusion of Steam, that only big-name games that can sell units regardless of platform are Steam-blacklisted by EA, has any validity.

BF3 and ME3 would sell very well whether or not they were allowed on Steam; MoH? I'm thinking not.

At this point I would be surprised if it "wasn't" an Origin exclusive.
