Mass Effect 3 Leaked

The Windows PC and Xbox 360 editions of Mass Effect 3 are available illegally online in advance of this week's official release of the action/RPG sequel. This is deemed mainstream news by Develop (though they aren't actually providing torrent links), who note that this seems to work in spite of EA requiring use of the Origin service for a one-time game activation.

Thanks for the heads up Lorcin

I posted about it 25 mins before he did in this thread :p
Hey well thanks too! On the upside I'm enjoying it so far. Though I find the voices to be very very quiet. Might be the dynamic audio option.

Crack was released ~1 hour ago so can everyone shut up about the PC version not being playable now please. Oh and contrary to the comments on here the PS3 version although leaked is not playable by any means.

Oh and before anyone asks no I have no idea where the crack is - I've got my save from ME2 on my PS3 I want to continue when my copy arrives.

Yeah but the game is out now so it's no longer a leak.

*Shareholder* Whatever gets them to spend more money. DRM makes it so the paying customers have to pay more so that is good.

Waiting for them to sell DLC that removes the DRM and does nothing else.

So I guess the only thing we can learn from any of it is if you don't want your game pirated, make it PS3 exclusive.

God don't say that - it's old, slow, looking ugly compared to the PC but yeah they do have a secure platform (give or take that 4 or 5 month blip it was hacked for). Next gen will be very interesting for PC - atm we're getting most of the big console releases and I can't help but wonder if it's not because the piracy on the 360 is so rife.

If they manage to keep their platform secure next time I can see the PC being the anti-piracy whipping boy again and the PC get no or very delayed releases again.

Wasn't giving a heads up btw - was trying to stem the tide of silly comments on here.

Thanks for the heads up Lorcin, managed to snag it and now I can play it without the !@#(*ing time lockout of waiting another 6 hours. Especially since my buddy in S.Korea has been playing it since this morning and has been pestering me to do a MP game with him. If he's buying what do I care? ;p

Seriously if it's one thing I don't understand it's why they don't put on a lockout so it hits on the IDT. People will use VPN's to bypass it anyway.

Save game transfers are fudged by the way:
They don't transfer over, there's no option in the config editor, you need to add it in manually.

Go to

C:\Users\NAME\Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect 3\BIOGame\Config

and open gamersettings.ini

Copy and paste the folder address for your ME 2 save next to

[SaveGames]
Location=

So:

[SaveGames]
Location=C:\Users\NAME\Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect 2\Save\

Eh? Bitgamer is one of the largest private trackers that only serves video games. If you look at TPB and Demonoid the numbers are similar.

Not heard of bitgamer - but just by comparison numbers on blackcats show snatched for:

PC 725
360 1256
PS3 56

M$ are really starting to have a problem with their DRM I guess

Sorry to interrupt the circle jerk, but the author of the article has admitted his mistake and amended the article.
That was only after he got blasted in the face by people telling him so. Drek like that should never be excused.

On a related note, Green Man Gaming has Mass Effect 3 (and other new games) for $10 off. I couldn't find any other place selling ME3 for less than $60, so that's the place to get it right now.

Ugh, one of the worse fallacies thrown around when discussing piracy, the torrent numbers. Those numbers are only using one tracker, take into no account private trackers and the lion's share of console piracy, black market sales on the street. If you ever go to some Asian countries you'll find dozens of people selling the latest pirated console games on the street for less than a dollar. And this is only the tip of the iceberg.

Many in the industry use those numbers as proof, unfortunately they only prove that at that specific tracker PC piracy is higher and that specific tracker doesn't even count to 5% of all world gaming piracy.

Eh? Bitgamer is one of the largest private trackers that only serves video games. If you look at TPB and Demonoid the numbers are similar.

And yes, I've been to a middle eastern country where you can buy pirated console games for $1 a disc at a kiosk on the street, but I'm pretty sure the industry has given up trying to control the overseas black market.

Not that I'm trying to defend asshole companies like UbiSoft that try to blame PC piracy for all of their woes, but I can look at my BitGamer account right now and tell you that the number of seeders and leechers for the PC version easily outnumbers the number of seeders and leechers for the 360 and PS3 versions combined by at least twofold. In fact, here's a screenshot for you: http://i.imgur.com/qyI2a.jpg

I bought both ME1 and 2 after pirating them when I was done, thought they were great games and deserved my cash. Same with Skyrim, but bought BF3 day one due to its track record and online.

I never finished ME2, it just became boring to me and I bet ME3 will be the same ol' same ol'. Will try it oh and when they come out with the Gold/Platinum, Game of the Year, Ultra, Diamond Collectors Edition, Tri Pack Triple Zip I will ge that too.

All in all a "pirate" that will pay $100+ for the game and here they bark that piracy kills the gaming industry.
