So much so that he hit his wife over the head with his iPhone last year during a domestic dispute:
Oh, it's THAT guy! I remember him.

The PR problem for Apple though is that Apple intentionally presents itself as hipster cool and ecology-minded green. Yes that's all BS of course but Dell and HP etc dont present themselves like that.
_That's_ the problem with Foxconn and Apple. |

From the article linked:
One point I agree with: it's a mistake to focus solely on Apple. Many, many Western technology companies work with Foxconn, and with factories where conditions are worse. From the January 25 NYT piece on Foxconn:
Foxconn Technology [is] China’s largest exporter and one of the nation’s biggest employers, with 1.2 million workers. The company has plants throughout China, and assembles an estimated 40 percent of the world’s consumer electronics, including for customers like Amazon, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Nintendo, Nokia and Samsung. Let that sink in. Foxconn outputs nearly half of all the world's consumer electronics.
Few tech companies have taken the kinds of early steps Apple has to try and improve matters, and share information about the process. Pretty much need to bookmark that, and link it every time some uninformed person says that people are "supporting slavery", when they buy Apple products.

Pogue on Foxconn: hey, at least it's not rice farming or prostitution. I looked at the link, the pogue link, and the NYT piece, and I don't see that actual quote attributed to him?
