Regardless, I don't play TF2 either, 25 or so hours total since release. But Valve doesn't steal your money by forcing you to buy their own form of currency. TF2 doesn't sell you the equivalent of a monthly subscription to make you more powerful and you lose it when you stop paying. TF2 items drop (randomly awarded), so really you never have to buy a damn thing and you will still get new gear.
$8 (10 days) & $15 (30 days) Boosters double the base XP and Tokens you receive inside of the game as you play, allowing you to unlock classes, skills and perks at a faster rate.

It's definitely not pay to win (so far). Playing/paying more just gives you more options, not better options.
With this patch you get 3 free classes: Pathfinder (good/great), Soldier (great), and Juggernaut (okay). Oh god, I took a closer look, this is a F2P/P2W game? Barf. I've avoided them like the plague. Pre-order is $30 so I dont see how someone got it for $8. I still may give it another look when Im not at work, but Ive got enough non-P2W crap to play.

Seriously though, I'm interested to try out the game, but more interested in Firefall. If $8 is all it takes, I may look into that. Still, the devs promising to carry over stuff to official launch of the game is dumb. Launch day should be a relatively even playing field.

I wonder how flexible loadout customization will actually be.
On a side note, there was nothing balanced or level about the class system. A team with all the unlocks had a significant advantage over a team with none. Hell, a team with no unlocks wouldn't even have any heavies or snipers. |

| Yeah, I understand that. I only spent the lowest amount, 8 bucks I think it was, just to get permanent VIP status, which I'm confident will remain in some form throughout the game's lifetime. |

| AS someone who's bought the Tribes: Ascend preorder pack, I still consider spending money on a beta game with promise of carryover as a risk. I spent money on Company of Heroes Online and that never made it out of beta and there were no refunds. Not mad, just saying, it's a risk you take. |

Not sure if you're serious or not... But a big thing they've been saying is that ALL PROGRESS made in beta will carry over into release. AND they've been accepting money for gold and boosters which people have been using to gain this progress. So yeah, if they accept money for something and make a promise that it won't be wiped, people might get upset about that. Not so hilarious.

Awesome! I've been playing the hell out of the beta and having a great time. Not too worried about getting screwed on unlocks, I'm sure they have a system in place. Either a refund of tokens or an exchange system. Either way, I'm excited about the new patch with custom loadouts. I know what I'll be playing tonight. Again.
EDIT: From the patch notes...
CONVERSION NOTE: Due to the depth and breadth of changes in this update, users will start fresh in the game with no items purchased. Gold and XP will be refunded based on previously earned XP, Tokens and Gold in the game (such that your time in the game thus far is rewarded). This will allow each user to choose how to allocate their earnings optimally under the new system without being constrained by your previously made choices. |

So what happens to all the players that have unlocked classes and unlocked perks and abilities to classes that are going away or to classes that are being changed? I hope we don't get shafted.
I do have to say that it is a positive change. |
