Dark Reign Redux

Dark Reign Redux offers the chance to revisit this classic real-time strategy game online using Silverlight. This is not just a straight port of the original, however, as word is: "Play this classic real-time strategy game on modern systems, updated with new features while still preserving that original game play that you have come to know and love." Thanks Darth Guybrush.

Except Dark Reign got a sequel (a good one, too). How's that for "being forgotten"?
Dark Reign 2 is awesome! I love it, best 3D RTS ever!

They were released one month apart and TA stomped all over it.

Totally agree. Total Annihilation was absolutely stunning due to new 3d rendered game units, which was new to the genre. Dark Reign was mostly ignored at that time, but after having finished with TA and then switching to Dark Reign, it was a very good RTS of its time (also, one of the best).

I always thought this game was pretty good, but it came out at the same time as Total Annihilation and got crushed.

Maybe your memory is just bad? Both came out nearly the same time. Particularly in 1997 when Internet was at best a very slow lame joke even 6 months difference made none... TA was hyped here like hell, and i never heard about Dark Reign until many many years later...
