I've had a couple of requests to follow-up my recent mention of looking for a new mouse. I'm still up in the air for a desktop replacement, but along the way I found a new mouse for my laptop. I ended up in a Staples, which does not cater enough to the enthusiast crowd to have a proper desktop mouse for me, but what they did have was this cool Microsoft Explorer mouse that replaces the middle button/scroll wheel with a touch-surface like a laptop touchpad. I couldn't resist checking out the gimmicky nature of this, and it is indeed pretty cool, and comes with the tiniest wireless USB dongle that can easily remain in place. There was an even more elaborate version with three such surfaces and multi-touch support, but this requires Windows 7, which I'm not using yet.
