Out of the Black

Thank you all very much for the near-unanimous support for the decision for Blue's News to participate in the SOPA/PIPA protest blackout today. A lot of today's news about this legislation indicates its support is crumbling, so here's hoping we can keep this momentum.

It's election year folks. Vote against the incumbent. If legislation like this made it as far as it has, it's time to kick everyone out and start over.

In addition to Wikipedia, Reddit, and Google, I was surprised at so many sites I visited today participating in the black out in their own way: Raw story, Ars Technica, Wired, XKCD, Vimeo, Pressthink.org, Wordpress, and boingboing. And those were just the sites I visited. I'm sure there were lots more. It was pretty awe-inspiring. I didn't realize so many sites had signed on.
I wished there were more big ones!

I avoid activism like the plague, but am in total support of the Bluesnews blackout today. This outrageous governmental overreach cannot go unopposed.

In relation to how fakenews and many of the major networks have tried to portray Anit SOPA/PIPA and Occupy Movement. I reverted back to the turning point of how/when protest became a power to stop a war.

Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young - Ohio (Studio Version)

As a cover song but it has the best film footage.

In addition I found the link publishing the order to "fire", which had apparently never been heard by the public.

The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country.

In a barely functioning modern society like ours, the Internet *should* still have more power than the ruling elite. It currently does, but I contend there are many control freaks that resent and despise the Internet and what it represents. They would gladly ruin it only for personal pleasure.

I thought what consumerist did was cool: They kept posting, but only sopa stories. Kind of a captive audience.

Common sense has nothing to do with it.

It's all about who has the most money and is willing to spend it on politicians.
