Out of the Blue

BusinessWeek has word that Hostess Brands is prepping for bankruptcy (thanks Ant via Boing Boing). I can't tell you the last time I had a Twinkie, but for some reason this makes me picture ending up on a crazed quest like the Woody Harrelson character in Zombieland.

I never quite understood Woody's character in Zombieland. Really? You're on a quest for a twinkie?

At least the kid was on a quest for pussy. That's a more understandable motivation.

My father loved those.

I bet your father and I would get along famously. Never was a twinky guy myself. I'd maybe pick up a pack of powdered mini donuts on rare occasion. But I can eat 5 packs of pink Snoballs in one sitting easy. Hmmm, wonder if this means we won't be seeing the green ones come St. Patricks?

Fret not little Learning, you'll never be alone. There will always be those Twinkies, you ate over the last 40 years, stuck to your heart.

That's quite impressive. I hope the cupcake itself didn't leave a mark on you.

Operations in 49 states with annual sales about $2 billion, and they are $860 million in debt? They can blame high labor expenses and rising ingredient costs all they want; it sounds like mismanagement and top heavy salaries & bonuses to me. Sad!
