Blizzard is trying to OWN YOU, for their own benefit--not yours. Are you really going to let that happen? Then don't play their products.

And YES it is sneaking when they don't offer you an option when installing to disable it, only when it is already running.
Acleacius wrote on Jan 8, 2012, 13:39:No, it will sell far more than d2, because its made by blizzard. Anything by blizzard no matter how money sucking is an instant hit. They did some decisions in SC2 (like no LAN, etc) and it still was a mega hit. Remember how many people bought the premium mounts in WoW?
It's going to be really interesting to see the blowback from the community especially regarding forced online and real money profiteering decisions. My guess/feel is they will easily lose 20% of their potential sales, had this been a normal sequel instead of an obvious profiteering schemes beyond game making.
Krovven wrote on Jan 8, 2012, 14:25:Well part of that is the fact that the beta is locked into normal difficulty. Once the harder difficulties open up, it will get much more difficulty all around. I've maxed out all chars in the beta (and gotten all beta achivements), and after a certain point, its all way too easy for many classes. Some classes are still difficult, but I think thats because their better abilities unlock on levels above the cap in the beta (at least they'd better, else some classes are going to suck).
More monsters, less enviro clickys, my toon didnt feel over powered, I couldnt just charge into the middle of everything and overall I really enjoyed it compared to the first time playing.

Someone should let Obama know, he'd be sure to make Blizzard pay 4.9% of it to the government so Obama could fulfill his promise to stomp out all the ghetto's across the US and pay their rent and gas.
Yakubs wrote on Jan 8, 2012, 14:08:I'm sorry, where did I say you couldn't turn it off? My complaint was that it maxes out my upstream by DEFAULT. Oh, and when I disabled P2P my download speed dropped to 4kb/s and didn't recover. Fucking brilliant! I can get raped or wait 3yrs for my download to complete. Oh, joy! I got around it by using Netlimiter to block the upload, while maintaining my download speed.
If you're going to rage, at least be informed. You can turn off the torrent-style downloading in the Options menu.

I really wish Blizzard would make their games available on Steam. I hate the Blizzard downloader and the way it automatically rapes your connection in order to distribute the game using YOUR bandwidth to other people. Fucking cheapskates.
Yakubs wrote on Jan 8, 2012, 14:08:It still uses it. Just less of it, it has and continues to be unoptimized.

I agree I HATE their torrent style downloader. It's always slower than crap. Normally I download at ~2.3 MB/sec (20Mb cable) but I'm doing good to get 1Mb (notice that's mega BIT) or less on Blizzard's crap.

On the plus side, the DIII beta was awesome and so I'll probably grab it. Not sure whether that will be for release or if I'll wait for a discount. Tropico 4 is keeping me occupied at the moment and I haven't even started on Shogun 2 yet.
