WoW Cross-Realm Raids Coming

The World of Warcraft Website has word on plans to add the ability to perform cross-realm raids with RealID friends after the upcoming version 4.3.2 patch for Blizzard's MMORPG. This will allow players to form cross-realm raids and use Raid Finder to jump into any classic dungeon or raid and be automatically placed in the same instance.

I don't think this is specifically being created for a lack of customers. I think it's more so friends that have friends on other realms can play with each other. How many times have you come across people or friends that play the same mmo and you end up being on different servers. Sure, you say you'll play with them, but that almost never really happens because all of your stuff is on your main server. This makes it easy to play with friends that way. You'll basically be able to do everything but regular questing and world PVP with people on your friend's list. That's pretty cool and I hope to see this feature available in other mmo's in the future.

They are gearing up for a down turn. With that said, they are a very smart company. They are already years into their next gen MMORPG. Very smart!

Not sure if this is a nice touch or a decline in subscriber numbers. It's not something any kind of decent raiding guild will welcome.

If anything it's going to make things more elitest as any idiot will be able to get into a PUG raid but they'll be even worse run with less chance of success. Meanwhile the elite guilds will have to try even harder to find decent new blood as people pick up achievements by getting lucky because a friend of a friend of a friend knew a guild who had a slot one week.
