How quickly people forget. The reason they changed is because they were hemmorahging customers by the boatload. The ganking/griefing was just way too out of hand and people wanted boundaries that Origin wouldn't do...untill people started leaving by the 1000's - literally. And when EQ showed up with PvE and PvP servers and everyone saw that people overwhelmingly wanted to play on the PvE servers and avoid the griefing. And then it was too late, the damge was already done and UO became and remains a niche game till this day.
The MMO genre is over as we know it anyway. If Ricky is in any way serious just make a new SP - or small co-op - CRPG. Let's see if he really has the chops, or like many have claimed over the years - that all the best Ultima stuff wasn't really done by him anyway and he's just been riding coattails for far too long now. If he's such a creative genius it shouldn't be hard to create a new IP. Hell, even ripping off Ultima and calling it homage. Let's see if it's true. |

What happened with Trammel? I was an old skool UO guy and stopped a long time ago. But it was a hell of a lot of fun, and hugely social. |

It is pretty much common knowlegde at this point that the glorious pre-trammel sandbox jizzfest MMO that was original UO, was pretty much a mistake by Garriot.
He did not intend to create the masterpiece of freedom that he did and it was killed off fast with the introduction of Trammel.¨
I dont have high hopes for anything new he comes up with... |

| Seriously, anything he does in the MMO market now will damage his reputation. There is just now way to appease the UO community unless they put a huge effort in it. And I don't see the money for that coming from anywhere unless EA feels really generous... well actually, they might. You never know what kinda resources EA would put forth to make a MMO that could be a success... |

| A man once said... "It's better to burn out than fade away" apparently those are the words Mr Garriott lives by. |
