Today is the anniversary of the release of the DOOM shareware, a significant milestone in the history of video games. If you are sitting down and don't have any liquid in your mouth to spit on your monitor, I'll tell you it's the seminal shooter's 18th birthday today, as the release was December 10, 1993.

As far as games are concerned.

I'm gonna say further, although in the last 5 years things have moved slower.
The advancement in graphics goes without saying, the advancement in some of the AI being produced blows my mind.

Black Ops Combat Training in co-op or just by yourself against the bots is just incredible AI, no two games the same. Those improvements were the result of constant improving over a year with great support from the devs. Black Ops singleplayer on the other hand was just terrible.

I'm really enjoing slowing making my way through Battlefield 3 singleplayer for the amazing sounds & physics, the AI is meh.
