The Bethesda Blog has word on the version 1.3 update for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim that's now available on Steam. They also announce they will be rolling out a patch next week for the Windows PC edition of the RPG sequel to support Large Address Aware configurations. Here's word on what the new patch does:
- General stability improvements
- Optimize performance for Core 2 Duo CPUs (PC)
- Fixed Radiant Story incorrectly filling certain roles
- Fixed magic resistances not calculating properly
- Fixed issue with placing books on bookshelves inside player purchased homes
- Fixed dragon animation issues with saving and loading
- Fixed Y-look input to scale correctly with framerate

Months pass and they forget what they did. A new game comes out and (unsurprisingly to everyone but them) it crashes.
I'd say about 25% of the cases I read in the tech support forum are probably related to something gamers did to their own PCs.
Sure but also sometimes there are just bugs, this game didn't exactly ship perfectly optimized or bug free. People have this tendency to be single minded and assume their situation fits everything, it's that inherent human narcissism. Likewise people are stupid and I'm sure many do screw up their machines but in this industry when you hear about consumer problems it can go either way. |
