Fire Reported At Skywalker Ranch. "private Skywalker fire crew?"

One can only hope it burnt up every trace of the prequels.

Well the hard drive shortage may not be affecting SSDs, maybe now would be a good time to get those...

I go to put the cpu back in and drop it bending a few pins. Sigh. So careful as hell try to get them straightened up, no joy. So off to the store for a new CPU...$142 later...man that was an expensive cleaning. On the upside though my new CPU is twice as fast as the old one. Went from triple core 2.1 to quad core 3.8.

at first i was a bit confused about the location of the pins then i realized you must be using an AMD cpu. amirite?

Other clue would be he went from a tri-core processor to a quad. Intel doesn't offer a tri-core processor.

thats true. i was wondering about that too.

DDR3 is ungodly cheap right now, I saw 8GB of Ripjaws for $35 yesterday.

memory is cheap but damn those hard drive prices doubled since the flooding in thailand affected manufacturing. i was looking at $69 2tb drives last month and now the cheapest i could find is almost $150.

I know we already had this conversation the other week...

But it still boggles the mind. I remember when 8MB was a lot for a personal computer... and cost an arm and a leg.

Now, 1000x that for less than the price of a AAA title video game.

now I'm thinking I may as well buy a new mobo and RAM as they're both pretty cheap right now and I'll hang on to my SATA drive and 4870 for now.

If you're going to upgrade, get an SSD. By far the most noticeable upgrade you can make on a PC.

Oh yeah, gave Dark Souls a rent - to play while reinstalling everything - and it's a little grindy and repetitive for my tastes. However, I adore the ambiance and artwork. I'd love to see a more proper CRPG in those environments. Anyway, we'll see how it progesses.

I'd caution you against grinding it, it's one of those games where it can actually get more difficult if you level up a lot. The increased PvP activity is a big factor in that. As long as you have enough stats to use the weapons/armor you want then you're usually fine.

I'm 20 hours in and its not as bad as Demon's Souls (grind-wise).

What I'd love to see is an MMO with the combat of this game. PVP would actually mean something.

Ehh Cutter, if your current MoBo supports the new CPU you got, unless you are looking to overclock, it is probably not worth it.

It's funny, I didn't recognize him in the movie (frankly I wasn't looking for him), but noticed in the credits he had a small part in last weekends Tower Heist movie.

Good lord! What a day yesterday. Pulled apart the PC to give it a good cleaning and tuneup for Skyrim on Friday. Anyway after pulling out the heatsink and cpu and blowing everything out top to bottom I go to put the cpu back in and drop it bending a few pins. Sigh. So careful as hell try to get them straightened up, no joy. So off to the store for a new CPU...$142 later...man that was an expensive cleaning. On the upside though my new CPU is twice as fast as the old one. Went from triple core 2.1 to quad core 3.8. So I blew everything out and am reinstalling from scratch - forgot what a long drawn out pain in the ass this can be. However, now I'm thinking I may as well buy a new mobo and RAM as they're both pretty cheap right now and I'll hang on to my SATA drive and 4870 for now.

Gods, I feel like such a mouth breather right now. Any dumber and I'd have to go out and buy MW3 and play it! Haha!

You've just made every Star Wars fan in the world an arson suspect.
