Good voice actors can do this and its difficult to tell. So I doubt there will be much of that feeling at all. 100 NPCs actually sounds a little low for an ES game. Well it says 110 ROLES, not NPCs. So there will be duplication there too. Like instead of 2 different looking townspeople wandering around, now its 10, or whatever. It makes it easier to suspend disbelief. Like if they duplicate a voice/NPC in two far apart cities, you might not remember them much. It would be cost prohibitive to design 100% unique NPCs for every single possibility in this kinda game, plus hire 100% unique voice actors for each. |

Thought about trying the game with all the voices turned off and just reading my way. Then I couldn't hear the NPCs I want to hear like Saerileth and Viconia. Just played through Fallout 3. Every old person not only sounds identical to every other old person (of the same gender, obviously), but looks like every other old person. It was killing me. I hope Skyrim's got a bit more wrinkle variety. |

And I have to say I was never really excited with Morrowind or Oblivion. I wanted to play them, but they were never a must have. I guess I need something a 'fix' until they use the tech for another Fallout game.
As for the music, it sounds amazing, and I'm glad they have 70 voice actors now (but over 100 npc's so we are going to get some of that oblivion fealing again), but what SELLS a npc isn't just the voice over. It's the body language that goes with it. Red Dead Redemption, Half Life 2, Assassin's Creed series and for a prime example the Batman Arkham Asylum/City games. |

Don't quite understand the religious hate towards id, thier games are highly polished, free of draconian DRM, relatively bug free, have the best ambience, and are damn fun to play. Well, guess it's a good thing no one here, has even touched on those. Not sure what we're talking about here anymore - only thing I got out of this was that someone doesn't know the difference between "your" and "you're." Stopped reading.
I just hope that with all the voice actors in Skyrim that they don't have people going in and out of crazy accents like the beggars in the Imperial City. That drove me nuts. |

Ah hah.. I thought I heard the voice of Vladimir Kulich in there (the guy on the throne.. I assume some kind of clan leader) and when they said his name I got rather excited. He does great voice work and is a fine actor.
For those that don't recognize the name, he's pretty famous for playing the Northman chieftain Buliwyf in The 13th Warrior. He's got a great voice, I'm looking forward to him in the game.
GJ Bethesda on listening to your fanbase when it comes to voice actors! The IMDB page reads like a list of who's who amongst the voice acting world.

In D3, they had one voice actor doing all 20 or so voices, EVEN the lone female! Charles Dennis, Philip Clarke, Neil Ross, Andy Chanley, Grey Delisle, Grant Albrecht, Dee Baker, Michael Bell, Steve Blum, S. Scott Bullock, Cam Clarke, Robin Atkin Downes, Keith Ferguson, Jay Gordon, Michael Gough, Bill Harper, Nick Jameson, David Kaye, Phil La Marr, Jim Meskimen, Matt Morton, Daran Norris, Rob Paulsen, Phil Proctor, Andre Sogliuzzo, Jim Ward, Wally Wingert, Edward Yin, Keone Young, Ryun Yu... but sure whatever, not like your interested in facts, just keep spewing the BS... just like your BS about Rage a game you've never even played? but sure you know all about it LOL... ...Anyway, about Skyrim, nice to hear they have so many voice actors. One problem I had with Oblivion was the lack of NPCs in the game... they made this huge enviroment and all these towns but they were so empty of life... sure out in the countryside I'm not expecting to see a lot of people but the towns themselves were so empty. |

Dev wrote on Nov 3, 2011, 18:03: Wow, 70+ voice actors? That's huge! And some are doing multiple, over 110 sounding voices? Nice!
That's almost twice as much as animated movies (I just checked Cars 2 and it had a "mere" 40 or so voice actors)!
How about Rage where you have an entire squad talking to each other with the same voice? Like clones. id couldn't even be bothered to hire more than a few.
Anyway, have you looked into mods? Surely there are mods to at least turn off selected voices, perhaps even more voices mods. I agree with you dev 100%, please don't get me started on id. In D3, they had one voice actor doing all 20 or so voices, EVEN the lone female!
I've heard the horror stories about Rage....especially if you just stay in a spot for a minute or two....they all say the same thing over and over and over, with the same voice actor. Hell, not to mention friends say 50% of the game is invisible walls, you can't even jump onto a simple railing, much less climb up and explore hillsides. Guess I'm just thankful id finally made it to the 21st century programming skill level, of having functioning outdoor levels.
I hope there are some mods if not now, some day. Thought about loading up Morrowwind. Nexus is conducting their closed beta for their new Mod Manager which is working across all the games they support. I think it's going to work much like the WOW Mod Updater works, where you can see lists of available mods and install them all on the fly. Nexus Mod Manager in extended closed beta with mod authors
