Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition in February

The Bethesda Blog announces the Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition, a bundle of Obsidian's action/RPG sequel along with all four of its DLC packs. Here's word on the package, which is due for all platforms on February 7, 2012 in north America and three days later in Europe:

We’re pleased to announce the Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition will be available in retail stores across North America on February 7th 2012 and throughout Europe on February 10th. The Ultimate Edition comes complete with all of the game add-on content for Fallout: New Vegas – Dead Money, Honest Hearts, Old World Blues, Lonesome Road, Courier’s Stash, and Gun Runners’ Arsenal.

For players who are seasoned explorers of New Vegas or just getting into the game for the first time, the Ultimate Edition expands beyond the Wasteland like never before with the Sierra Madre Casino, Zion National Park, Big MT research crater and the treacherous Divide now open for exploring. Along with new areas to explore, each of the four main add-on packs increases the maximum level cap by five levels, ultimately raising the cap to level 50.

New Vegas Ultimate Edition will be available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

These types of Game of the Year/Ultimate Edition releases are the very reason I never buy DLCs piecemeal. I love having the DVD with everything on it.

I bought the DLCs individually and never felt ripped off. At the time I wanted more New Vegas and the price was fine. As an expansion pack I would have paid approximately the same amount so nothing lost. The game has a ridiculous amount of content without the DLC and feels "complete" regardless.

Another possibility is to buy them on steam and make backup DVDs. Steam installs everything at once for you so you don't have to worry about it.

I bought the collector's edition (and beat it). I haven't tried the DLC yet, but I hear some of it is pretty good.

The game had some bugs early on. I didn't run into any of them, but sometimes I'm magic that way.

The ending is pretty satisfying. It's worth playing through.

I may end up buying it again, even though I already have the game and all the big DLC. New Vegas was easily the best RPG in years.

Agreed! But then again I'm a huge Fallout fan boy..lol

Agreed. I won't buy it again, but I don't feel at all cheated by giving them a total of $100 or whatever. Deserved every penny.
I just buy the DLC when its on sale, then its not so much.

I guess I'm the only one who thought the DLCs were kinda meh. Dead Money was irritating, and Honest Hearts was an interesting setting turned hideously boring by ho-hum, dime-a-dozen fetch quests.

Old World Blues is a very fun setting, utterly ruined (for me) by 90% of all the monsters having 800+ hitpoints. If I have a shoot a critter the size of a fucking dog in the head FOUR TIMES with a fucking .50 cal anti-vehicle rifle, something is really, REALLY wrong with your damn encounter design.

So when I heard that Lonely Road had 1000+ HP deathclaws in small areas, I never even bothered with it.

This is one of the reasons I don't buy games right away anymore. I hate feeling like I'm only getting part of the game. When I get into a game, I want to play through all of the content the first time through and the be done with it. For this reason I still haven't picked up DX:HR (but I will eventually). Same with Skyrim. I'm probably going to pick it up, but not until they're done trickling out the DLC.

Don't get me wrong, there are some great games that I've played through multiple times, but the problem with most DLC is it doesn't continue the story once you've beaten the game, but rathher adds content that you would have seen in your original playthrough if you had had the DLC.

I don't mind a full blown expansion that adds a lot of content and value and continues the story where it left off, but I'm not willing to get nickel and dimed over the course of a year or more just to get an extra four or five hours of gameplay here and there.

this time around, the writing was better than the gameplay, which was mostly a repeat of the exact same gameplay found in Fallout 3. Fun game in any case.

Actually, the price will probably be pretty high compared to the previous Steam sales of the game and all the DLC.....

It was 9.99 not long ago, and I think all the DLC was like 50% or more off.....

Don't forget the Best Companion Mod ever made, as good as any developer made NPC.

I do want the DLC, but I'm not buying the game at full price again to get it. I hope they either sell this at $20-$30 or offer the DLC as a bundle for $20.

Hopefully Steam will do another Summer sale next year, and I'll bet it shows up there...

I really wish I had waited on this. I bought FNV on release, the collectors edition too, but I haven't even finished the game. I love the game, it has great atmosphere and depth, but I was put off by early bugs and bugs introduced in patches (some of which still haven't been fixed). I decided to "shelf" it it and play other stuff until was fixed. They have stomped out a lot of the bugs, but there are still some really bad bugs still present (Boone, casino's not returning weapons to companions). Thankfully the PC version is modable, and the community has fixed a lot of them (I have even contributed a couple of bug fixes myself).

I got too tied up playing other things and just recently picked up where I left off using the community bug fix patch. I do want the DLC, but I'm not buying the game at full price again to get it. I hope they either sell this at $20-$30 or offer the DLC as a bundle for $20.

There goes the chance of seeing this on during the annual Steam Christmas sale, unless they just do a "ultimate" bundle by putting everything on sale together.

I bought the original FO:NV, but I am willing to buy this edition at a sale. Good games deserve my money!
Consoles? I owned two: a Pong clone and an Atari 2600. And that's it.

<checks outside to see if pigs are flying> Wow, everyone has good things to say about this game.

I'm currently playing F:NV, with a few mods(UI,HUD,textures, fov), I too am highly enjoying and recommend this game.

Finally I can agree with StingingVelvet on something. The DLC was worth every penny and I don't mind them repacking it to make things more convenient for new buyers.
