Yeah I've been playing Conquest exclusively and I don't get the 'BC2 linear map' feel at all. Sure the graphics and sound are more reminiscent of BC2 than BF2 but not the open sandboxish maps. And BC2 had very weak and few vehicles. BF3 is the opposite here. Tanks take about five or six rpgs (depending on where you hit them).
Agreed about the comma-rose, it is poorly implemented. It needs a dedicated key, or why not just have a key for each saying and have a lot more. There are some BF2 callouts that are missing in BF3. I can't request ammo or health packs. I followed some clueless player around for a few minutes and he didn't think to drop some ammo for me even though I was getting in front of him. Then he died, took his kit and did it myself! I think DICE is going to fix it.
You can sometimes request ammo/whatever by targeting a teammate and hitting Q. Sometimes that works but inexplicably other times it just does nothing, it's kind of frustrating. The commo rose doesn't even seem to do anything half the time either. I say Need Backup but nothing pops up in team chat, no audio cues or anything else that hints it might even be functional. It's like the UI for it is present but everything else is missing. Having it on the spot key is problematic for obvious reasons as well.
The maps aren't as large as some of the BF2 ones but they feel like the right size instead of having a ton of dead space that really has no strategic purpose. I never really feel penned in unless that's the design intent of the map author like Tehran or Metro.
What problems are people having with Battlelog? I just drag and drop my friends onto drop zone and we all get into the server if there's space. The hard coded number of squads is more problematic than Battlelog I've found. I use that Scriptish Battlemods script to get the server queue functionality back as well and Dice did confirm it will return soon.
