Following
the indication that 10 million units have shipped for
Battlefield 3,
EA announces the game has sold five million copies in its first week, "making it the fastest-selling game in EA’s history." Also, a post on the
Battlefield Blog thanks Battlefield 3 for their valuable feedback, and offers a status report on the state of the recently released military shooter sequel. They outline post-launch improvements in the game, and highlight five areas they are continuing to work on: Quick Match functionality, squad joining, Origin authentication, dealing with cheaters, and server maintenance.

Chokepoint maps. As good as Operation Firestorm and a few other maps are, some of the ridiculous chokepoint maps (Operation Metro, that tunnel one with a few vehicles) are just laughable. I halfway think these are in the game just to grind for unlocks.
It's not just that they are bad, but they also lend themselves to weapon spam. Rockets and mortars are insanely OP in these scenarios (especially mortars), assuming the map allows them. They really didn't balance them out well.
The other annoyance is how unbalanced some of the maps are. Operation Metro, for example, it's insane. Basically, the Russians have a shorter time/distance to point B, which means 90% of the time, they cap it first, and then the fact they can spawn there ensures they hold onto it. Which means that ticket bleed gives them the win.
What I'm hoping is that once the game has been out for awhile longer, some "big maps only" servers will start popping up, and the small choke-point maps will fall out of favor. |
