Following
the indication that 10 million units have shipped for
Battlefield 3,
EA announces the game has sold five million copies in its first week, "making it the fastest-selling game in EA’s history." Also, a post on the
Battlefield Blog thanks Battlefield 3 for their valuable feedback, and offers a status report on the state of the recently released military shooter sequel. They outline post-launch improvements in the game, and highlight five areas they are continuing to work on: Quick Match functionality, squad joining, Origin authentication, dealing with cheaters, and server maintenance.

Minor dislikes:
- Coop, while very interesting, has NO BUILT IN TEXT/VOICE CHAT. This seems like a shoddy port of a console feature. Not even text chat? Really? Multiplayer has it... Also, coop seems inordinately slow compared to multiplayer, regardless of comps involved. Obviously some of this is from AI routines, but still. How about the fact that the entire party system is fucked? Creating a party is tedious, getting on the same squad with that party is a chore. The fact that there's no real voip outside the horrible battlelog system, removes any chance for real teamwork outside small groups of people who use mumble and manage to squad up. |
