What defines this game more than the violence is "The Darkness" an ancient evil being with the main char as host. First game is alot like Silent Hill.
Very very very very underrated game (82 prft) but have fun with Little Big Planet 2 or whatever that got all 10s LOL. |

The game does not provoke enough interest to do research. I don't care about it from seeing this trailer. This trailer makes me NOT like it, there is no exposition. I don't even want to watch it a second time to find out if there were weapons. Except you were interested enough to check out the trailer in the first place and cared enough after watching to post a comment about it. This is not the first Darkness 2 trailer. The previous ones were far more story-oriented.

Apparently, you had no interest in watching those but you did watch the one called "Artfully Executed," then seemed offended when the video revolved around executions. |

This trailer is called "Artfully Executed", what the fuck did you think it would showcase, NPC conversation? Your right, it's hilarious. Because I ALWAYS look at the name of a trailer before I watch it and jerk off thinking about....*what the trailer would be like*....just like you.
Instead of just thinking...*Oh a game trailer, from a game I don't recall atm, maybe I should check it out*. Who does that, anymore, Piff?
Edit: Ok, I looked at Metacritic it's a console game and it got a 82.

As mentioned, I didn't see guns on the NPCs. Maybe there were so many bullshit special effects being thrown in my face, I couldn't tell? The only weapons I saw were on the....squid....thing....monster....player....person....thing.
Additionally there are several, possibly 10% to 15% of games where the player is evil like Dungeon Lord or playing Darkside or the Horde. I never play any of them as they don't interest me.

Normally there is some interest from developers to attract new players. Some explanation or connection for potential new players to the sequel. Apparently these developers are different, they didn't tell or show me anything except the player seems to be and looks like THE monster.
The fact that Sempai had to explain the story to me, sort of proves the point of my first post and question....At the very least this trailer sucks at drawing new players in based on story.
Edit: Since I am normally a snarky person, I just went with what you said and assumed I was being snarky. I did reread my post. I think I was actually being pretty serious. Go figure.

Afaik, they were innocents based on the info in the trailer. I can see how my question may have been seen as snarky but it also was not out of the realm of reasonable question. Under the circumstances, this video has/had absolutely no appeal, why would I do research when I can ask a question? It's not worth spending time on, afaik. Doing research will usually get you answers faster than posting a question on a message board. A quick trip to Wikipedia would have given you a lot more background on The Darkness games and the comics that they're based off of.
On a side note, I'm not sure what gave you the impression that the people in the video are innocent? Civilians usually don't walk around with body armor and guns. |

It's so great when you see they've spent so much time coming up with witty ways to maim, torture and disembowel people in a game, I'm usually all over gruesome vidja games but this wreaks of 12yr old over the top torture porn, and they're attempting to throw humor into it all.
Assecution? Really? We truly are catering to the Call of Duty generation aren't we folks..Which is even more sad because 13yr olds will get their hands on this garbage and think it's awesomesauce!
Seems pathetic to me on the part of the dev's and even more so the publisher.
Look, I enjoyed the first game even though it had it's issue's. Let's hope they have an actual game behind all of this that's solid and tells a good story like the graphic novel. |

So my first exposure to this game was this video and there was no explanation. None of these people had weapons I could see. Then I asked a question.

Thanks for giving me the prospective *nothing to do with killing innocents* |

Guess someone had to do it, but what's shocking is apparently the first one sold enough to have a sequel. When you don't know something, do some research before making snarky comments. The games are based on a comic called The Darkness and you're not killing innocent people. In the first game, you're killing mobsters and in the second game, you're killing cultists.
The first game had some of the most poignant scenes in any game I've ever seen. Really well-done stuff. I'm curious to see whether or not the sequel can match or even surpass that. |

| The game had jack shit to do about killing innocents. It was about a young mafioso whose girlfriend is murdered in front of him which awakens an ancient creature named The Darkness within him, and said mafioso's quest for revenge with his new-found powers. |
