Also, where do people like you draw the line? If he had said "The Alliance are a bunch of [n-word]s and we should kill them all!" would that have been ok to you? What if he came out in blackface? Would that have been cool? What if he came out and said "I can't wait for WoW to be on the Xbox. PC gamers are all virgins that are too fat to even touch themselves!" Would you guys have been ok with that? Yes. Those are all fine, for a very obvious reason. If one segment of the population uses any of those with impunity all segments of the population should be able to use those with impunity. And various 'groups' do and have said things like that.
Probably not. So why is this different? Because you're not personally affected?
Also, it's hysterical how some morons turn this into religion or politics. Don't worry when things fly over your head, speech is political these days. I live in a country with a 'hate crime' law, which criminalizes speech. And can be fined, and thrown into jail without due process by a kangeroo court that exists outside the normal courts thanks.
Yep. Moron indeed, some of us just happen to see what happens when political and special interest groups do when they criminalize speech.
Beamer aparently doesn't realize the whole politically correct movement that not only has politics right in the name, is entirely tied to politics and special interest groups in the first place. That's where it was born.
Yet he's calling others "morons". Go fig. Untrue. I'm not sure how you're turning this into something about the government. I'm not saying Blizzard or Corpsegrinder should be arrested or fined. I'm not saying the government should do anything about this. I'm saying that we should mock them for being so stupid as to do something like this.
Someone said this probably means I voted for Obama. I don't see how that would factor into this at all. I'm not hoping Obama swoops down from Air Force One and ends this kind of speech.
I said that, because you got butt hurt and offended by an off color remark about an opposing faction in WOW of all things that wasn't meant in a serious manner. That's generally what Liberals do on a regular basis. Shame on me for assuming I suppose though I doubt I'm far off from the mark anyway you do seem the type. Here, caps for you: NO ONE GIVES A SHIT THAT IT WAS ABOUT THE ALLIANCE. He could have said "rainy days are gay" or "getting hit by a car is gay" or "cancer is gay" and it would have the same reaction. What he said it about is irrelevant. What is relevant is that, to him, "homosexual" = "bad."
But no, politics aren't sports for me, so I don't sit around categorizing things as "liberal" or "conservative" and blindly root for them. And he was joking, it wasn't meant to be taken seriously. That you did and obviously can't see past it beyond being some form of personal attack against "TEH GAYS! oh no!" is just funny. No seriously it makes me laugh. |

I must say that, having read the posts to this thread in its entirety, I am most impressed with the Blues News bunch. For the most part, it's been a thoughtful discussion with little trolling and some good points all around. |

Again, what makes it so offensive is that it's hyperbole. Again, you clearly misunderstand the entire fundamental concept here. He isn't saying "The Alliance are a whole bunch of males that have sex with each other," he's is making the metaphor of "the Alliance are a bunch of weak, lame weenies which is pathetic and similar to men who have sex with men."
This is why it's offensive - he's using "homosexual" as a synonym for "pathetic." And you don't think people that are homosexual would find this offensive? That the hyperbole makes it worse?
Again, you miss the entire fundamental concept. You must not be thinking about it very hard. You're just saying "haha, it's funny, gay people lighten up!" I'd wonder if you'd feel the same if they took your name and turned it into a synonym for "idiotic." Well said, I think you're one of the few people in this thread that actually gets it. |

I'm not outraged. It's typical and in many settings socially accpetable to use gay slurs. This incident is just a piece of the larger problem. The point is that Blizzard gave a guy a big stage to voice his gay slurs. Slurs that I hardly think they woudld embrace publicly. So now you're just an anonymous complainer?
How about at least taking an anonymous stand?
Again, the pot is calling the kettle black. I did take a stand. But I will elaborate. I find biggotry generally disgusting, whether it's of the form of slurs based on sexual identity, gender, ethnicity or actions. |

Yeah, because, you know, conservatives never do that. I mean, it's not like there aren't 20 ultra-right wing bigots on TV and radio at any one moment all screaming and ranting how everything bad and evil in the world is the fault of the liberals. And just like yourself their listeners never parrot those talking heads.
Oh wait a second!
Oh it certainly happens on both sides, just generally more often with dems, I mean how many times have you seen a race card play by the likes of Al Sharpton or Maxine Waters for example? Then when you actually really listen to the shit they spew you realize oh shit! They're actually far more raciest than the people they're accusing.
Obama's speech the other night a perfect example "Don't vote for me and you're on your own, the GOP will let you die!!111eleventy1" was essentially his message, which is complete fear mongering. Or how bout the Acorn supported "grass roots" wall st socialism protests going on right now?
Both sides play games, Liberals however have the shit down to an art. I also love how you guys pile on Fox News which I'm assuming is what you mean by ultra right wing, you realize it's the single conservative news station period right? God forbid! I've certainly never heard NBC/ABC/CBS or MSNBC ever be critical of any liberal idea. |
