Might & Magic Heroes VI & Patch Now Available

Might & Magic Heroes VI is now available from Ubisoft, offering Windows PC gamers the chance to revisit this turn-based strategy series with Black Hole Entertainment's reboot that serves as a prequel to Heroes of Might and Magic V. Simultaneous with the release is a "day one" patch with bug fixes as well as five new multiplayer maps, a download which is mirrored on AtomicGamer, Gamer's Hell, and The Patches Scrolls. The release is also accompanied by a huge batch of screenshots and a launch trailer. Here's word on the game:

Today, Ubisoft announced that Might & Magic Heroes VI is now available worldwide. Developed by Black Hole Entertainment, Heroes VI is the prequel to Heroes V and showcases a family of heroes in a thrilling, epic story where Angels plot to revive an unfinished war. Might & Magic Heroes VI is rated T for Teen and is available exclusively on Windows PC.

In celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Might & Magic universe, Heroes VI reboots the acclaimed classic by rediscovering the essence and richness of previous universes and introducing a high-fantasy atmosphere in Ashan. In this updated installment, the landscapes and creatures from the World of Ashan are presented in improved 3D designs and includes an exclusive new bestiary. Also new to the franchise is the Reputation System, which allows Heroes to shape their own destiny through two intriguing scenarios, Blood and Tears.

Heroes VI is available as a PC Download for $49.99. A Deluxe Edition is also available for $54.99. This bonus edition of Heroes VI contains exclusive content including one bonus single player Skirmish map, four Dynasty Heroes, two Dynasty weapons, a one month subscription to Might & Magic Heroes Kingdoms, game soundtrack, artbook and poster.

the last version of Heroes V has the DRM removed, all of the races were playable and a custom map maker and all for 20 bucks. Best bargain out there

I never had a problem with HoMM 5's DRM; I know it wasn't nearly as offensive and insulting as the current crap Ubi is using. And yeah, it was a damn good game.

So far, VI is great, though it is more like V than III, which is sure to annoy some.

You can always wait for the inevitable "gold edition" release a year from now with no DRM and all of the bonuses included in the box.

Has Ubistupid done that in the past with any of its games? Silent Hunter 5, Assassin's Creed 2, Settlers 7 all still have their moronic DRM as far as I know.

well your crack better work with the zero day patch to 1.1 because you'll want that patch. It wouldnt surprise me if that zero day patch was intentional by the game publisher to frustrate the hackers. The crack scene isnt what it was 5-7 years ago.

You may never see a working crack of a later patched exe unless that game is a blockbuster. The publishers know that.

I honestly do, Luke. But I guess it's the same reason I'm not a vegetarian. I'm against the way lifestock is treated, but I need the meat.

On a sidenote, I am eating way less meat than I did years ago after realizing how horrible it all is. In the same way I'm also supporting game-companies way less than I did years ago. But some games -- like this one -- well, I just NEED them. I need the box in my hand and all.

And yes, like I said in my former comment, I don't find DRM that big an issue unless it comes in the abominal fashion of GFWL.

Gonna buy the game after work.

Shame about the DRM stuff but since I can't invest is both a gamer PC AND gamer laptop, I'm not playing games on my laptop anyway. So the whole "want to play anywhere I want" argument never applies to me anyway. I honestly think that it doesn't apply to right about 95% of you guys, including those using said argument to complain.

So, since I have a constant internet connection at home anyway, I'm not fussing about the DRM thing. I never do, tbh. The whole point of DRM and the wasted effort devs put in it, however, is completely beyond me. And in this way, I'm voting against it. That vote won't stop me from buying a good game, though.

And there you go ....you just don't get it do you ?

Yes, but it only removes the necessity to be online when the gane starts. This crack does NOT restore the misssing content when playing offline.

But i guess, someone will eventually tackle that problem.

guys -- the online components are lame (no argument there) but the "dynasty stuff" and "custom heroes" are fluff bits. You dont remotely need them to enjoy the campaign game offline.

If those were actually 'fluff' bits then Ubisoft wouldn't remotely need to limit them for paying customers.

Exactly. It means the game is crippleware. I give them money they give me the complete game. That's how it works. Not, here's my money but I can only access parts of it unless I bend over and take it sans lube the way Ubisoft wants me to.

Guess Ubi doesn't want my money with this DRM. I don't pirate games, so I'll find some other company to spend money with instead.

Looks like the future of PC gaming is independents, because the major companies sure don't seem to get it.

I tried the demo for Homm6, it was ok, and marginally worth buying for me, but the DRM kills it. Age of Wonders though GOG is better anyways. Sigh - wish there was a new Age of Wonders coming

Terrible. I bought every iteration and most of the expansions for HOMM 1-5, and I was looking forward to this one. But denying content if I'm not online and connected to their tracking system is just not OK with me. No sale. If this is the way PC gaming is going, then I guess I'm done buying games.

+1. Goddamit, I so want this game. I just can't support a company this stupid and selfish though.

I got a torrent of it I havent tried yet. Hopefully it is good, if so I will by, but if the crack allows me to play this whenever I want with all the game has to offer then so be it. Fuck em if that's the way they want to treat paying customers.

@UBI - DRM = no sale.

I want to be able to use my software on any system I have, anywhere I am, whether I have an internet connection or not.

If the only way to do so is to use a pirated version...

DUMBASSES.
