ah, I thought The THing 1982 was a remake of The Thing from Another World 1951. It is also set in the poles.....probably could deduce that since the monster was in a block of ice and they thaw him.....so yea, it is the 3rd movie.
Even the wiki for the 82 movie says it is a remake of the 51 movie....so relax nancy.... |

Haha, that sound like a James Cameron movie. Follow a highly successful sci-fi horror movie with a big-budget sci-fi action movie. And look how awesome that turned out!
I never played the game through till the end but, from what I understand, the debate still rages in regards to who was still the thing at the end of the movie which is pretty incredible and almost rivals the debate that Deckard is a Replicant in spite of the interview with Ridley which implied that he was.
I hope that the ending will never be exploited and we never know the answer...unless the game touched on it...then I would be sad... MacReady shows up at the very end of the game to rescue the main character. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAPamQXHu7A Yeah. It was interesting that in the original trailer for the game they had implied that MacReady was dead (about the 2:55 mark):

If I remember from playing the game, I believe you actually do find Childs' frozen body, though. |

The trust system had no impact. You could test someone and have them show as clean and less than 10 seconds later, without him leaving your sight, he'd change.
Total crap. That was a major issue with the game, but it hardly rendered the game total crap. It still was a very atmospheric and moody survival horror game with spot on atmosphere. I'd rate it 80% myself. No, what I meant was the trust system was total crap.
The game itself was kind of bland and kind of annoying but maybe a 6.5 out of 10. Worth it if you had nothing else to play and could pick it up for $20. |

I still have it lying around somewhere so maybe I'll give it another chance and come out with a different experience. The trust system had no impact. You could test someone and have them show as clean and less than 10 seconds later, without him leaving your sight, he'd change.

Anyway, I am looking forward to the new movie. I love the original Carpenter film, and the game that came out a few years ago was pretty good as well. This game, however, sounds like crap. Agreed, the PS2/PC game was surprisingly good, it just had a few flawed mechanics and some control niggles that really detracted from the experience. It's a shame that many people wrote it off without trying it. |
