Tripwire on Red Orchestra 2 Stats Reset

An article on Gamasutra outlines reasons for the recently announced plans to reset stats in Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad based on a conversation with Alan Wilson of Tripwire Interactive. "Basically, the system was over-recording the points scoring in the system and 'leeching' points from one player to another on servers, so artificially boosting players," Alan explains. "Once we had thousands of people playing, this problem became really obvious - instead of it happening slowly, it suddenly started happening really quickly. This was crediting players with kills they hadn't got and so on, at the end of rounds. That would then push the players' rankings way up, as well as their weapon experience." Alan also admits this situation has "probably" put off some players. "Some people, who put in a lot of hours after launch, are unhappy, but that is why we are running at double XP right now - so people can get back to where they actually should be, reasonably quickly," he tells them. "For most people, it was more of a relief - more of an indication that we have been fixing stuff!"

Not to mention that BC2 showed that unique voice sets, and even languages for a team is totally OK, because after 200 times the same voice line, people will know what that voice bite means even if its not a language they can speak or understand.

And often its just a cue whether its friend or foe.. one of those little things that BC2 got right.

Worst thing about the voice acting is that both sides are virtually indistinguishable from one another. Whether someone is German or Russian, all you hear out of them is heavily accented English. It is very poorly implemented when you can't even tell if someone's an enemy from the sound of their voice.

Persistent stats are pointless and encourage stat-building gameplay anyway, why bother.

Oh for the love of god, yes!
At least the stupid monologs at the beginning of rounds appear to be gone.

Now if they would just add an option to turn off the terrible voice acting.......
