Chucky Game Plans

There's word on playtribune.com about TikGames's plans for a Windows PC and console game based on the Child's Play series of horror movies based on the Chucky doll/serial killer. Word is: is will be a stealth game where players will decide how many of their enemies will survive. "We’re proud to be able to bring a fan-favorite movie character, such as Chucky, to gaming platforms," says Alex Tikman Co Founder and Vice President of Publishing for TikGames. "Fans have been asking for a Chucky game for years and, soon, gamers around the world will be able to enjoy highly-entertaining, interactive, downright gory experiences with this brand." Thanks Computer and Video Games.

I'm sorry, I just can't picture a world where this turns out to be good. Good for a laugh maybe. I don't know if I WANT to live in a world where a Chucky game is good, lol.

All misgivings can be overlooked if they get Brad Dourif to do Chucky's voice again.

And this developer has made some 3D games, so it's not like they don't have any experience outside of 2D casual titles.

I mean, it's not damning. We don't know who on the team came from where. Maybe Tikman hired some producers and team members with more direct experience. I mean, Valve came from spreadsheets and immediately gave us Half Life.

I can't mock it too much. You've got to start somewhere, and those games are easiest to start with even if your dream is violent action games. But when you see a studio go from a developing exclusively casual stuff (and seemingly 2D casual stuff) to 3D action you can't get excited.

On the topic of predicting how good this may be, I'd say you're on the right track. It's smart to not really expect much from a casual dev, esp when the Chucky franchise wasn't too deep or meaningful to a real audience of people anyways.

I'd rather see them make games from the Simpsons based on Baby Button-eyes and The Bloodening!

Wicked.. Make it play like thief3 except you are a psychopathic doll, and have some one-liners in between and it'll be great.

Don't. Screw. It. Up.
