I received my 79.00 kindle today....
First impressions: Well....thought it would be bigger (thats what she said) Wow that e-ink is pretty damn clear What? It doesn't turn off? Hmm, don't like the controls for menu movment, etc.
It is almost to small to hold and read in a comfortable position. Going to mess with it for a few weeks, then maybe give it away and get the larger one. This is the size of a very small paperback book. Maybe a leather or other style holder for it will make it better, but DAMN are they expensive! It is a 79 dollar device, why would I buy a 40-70 dollar holder for it!? |

On technological woes, I'm still having trouble (Google Chrome 14.0.835.202 on Mac OS X 10.6.8) viewing the blues news page. Safari, works... Firefox, works.
It's as though, as someone yesterday had suggested, that CSS formatting isn't being applied - but I cleared everything in Chrome (back to the "beginning of time"), and the site is stlll being displayed without the proper formatting.
I may have to use Safari or FF in the meantime to view BN properly.
I also have to fix my accordion (which is outside the scope of this site, but yeah, another thing on the plate).
Thanks again,

I once bought a sound card with a 5.25" front tray thingy. No sound, it must have been DOA, so I returned it for a replacement. The replacement gave no sound, DOA again. It must have been a bad batch, so I returned it for another replacement. No sound, DOA. Again?!
...
Ohhh, there's a little volume knob on the front thing. Which is set right the way down. Oooooooooops!
I'm surprised they accepted the returns, they mustn't have tested them at all. Or they sent me back the same unit, but I'd have thought they would charge me for shipping. Thanks, Komplett! |

"Is it plugged in?" That's the first question I'd ask when someone would call me saying their computer inexplicably wouldn't turn on. Followed by a ,'of course it is asshole', reply. And then they'd be confused when I found their computer was unplugged.

Blue, your post reminds me of dealing with a few of my users:
Is the power on?
Yes.
Are you sure?
Yes.
Do I need to climb under the desk and verify that myself?
<pause> I'll check. Oh hey, it wasn't plugged in! Thanks!

I told him to turn on the monitor, and got a similar response to the above : )
He still jokes about it these days, along with a few other PC newbie stories... : )
