No worries dude. From Software rules, when people were breaking the street date in Japan the devs were hopping on max level characters and PKing everyone playing They're like a studio full of trolls or something, I don't know but they're a riot.

A...something, something, something.. King's Field.
King's Field? I wasn't aware that From did King's Field too. I've generally thought of them as the Chromehounds guys. Awesome! Both the first and second King's Field on the PS1 were my favorite at the time and for a long time afterwards. It wasn't until Gothic years later that I had that same amazed and excited feeling while exploring.

Thanks for the information Verno!

I was one of the few people who didnt enjoy demons souls. brutally unforgiving. And I dont have enough spare time to replay the same levels over and over again. I DO see the appeal of the game though, but not for me.

I've very excited about Dark Souls. Even pushed my birthday back to Wednesday (it was sunday) so that I could hopefully get this game as a present. I'll be slumming it at the brick and mortars on Wednesday morn if the wife got me Rage instead...either will do but the more I see from Dark Souls the more excited I get. The bonfire/campfires they describe sound like the only thing I'd need to enjoy the first game. Can't wait to play this one. What little I saw of the first game was amazing. The world you run around in, the enemies you fight, everything was incredible. Just couldn't seem to get a handle on what I was doing wrong. I'd be fine if they allowed me to drop the difficulty if it gets too hard but then I don't' get any achievement credits.

A friend of mine has a sibling who works at a videogame store, sometimes if it won't get him in trouble I can score a game a day or two early. I usually toss him a few bucks to say thanks.

Cutter, Dark Souls is essentially a sequel to Demons Souls in terms of gameplay. It's gameplay is heavily inspired by old western RPGs and games like King's Field. It's probably best described as action adventure with moderate RPG elements and it features tremendously difficult gameplay with unforgiving design principles. It all takes place in massive gothic environments versus huge bosses and loads of varied foes. It also has a very unique multiplayer system that's difficult to describe but works well involving hints, modified co-op modes and even forced PvP. There really isn't another game like it other than Demons Souls.

They're unique in their design, they don't do difficulty by repetition or unfairness like most games (for example, not like Ninja Gaiden or something). The gameplay is just inherently hard and you have to think your way through situations, sometimes very quickly and other times quite slowly. I love them because they reward the thinker and punish the typical gamer of modern times who wants to be led through things by the hand. They're certainly not games for everyone though, they can be frustrating and quite tense.

Explain this Dark Souls thing to me. Read a few previews and don't get why you're so excited for it.

Ok, I'm glad it's not just me.

Hopefully it's not a PSN-style breach or anything.

GAH DAMN YOU MICROSOFT, I'm babysitting for 3 days and my Xbox is at home

I am ready for the REAL console driving game next week. Not that I don't like Gran Turismo series, it's just too arcadey for how it's marketed.
