I have a set of 5.1 THX certified speakers on my PC.
Just an aside but that doesn't really mean anything per se. I'm not trying to pick on you specifically X7, it's just something I see on forums a lot. THX will certify anything, they certify bloody speaker bars. Whether a pair of speakers is worth anything is all about build quality, materials and can depend heavily on the types of audio you listen to. Some speakers have great mid-ranges but are very weak on detail (some types of vocals for example). Most PC speakers I see are just overpriced consumer fluff. Now if you meant you have a set of Energy's hooked up to your receiver to your PC or something then forgive my response 
Sound cards matter a lot less than they used to. No games do hardware accelerated sound anymore which is what really hurt that market, Creative kept fucking up drivers and MS finally got fed up with being blamed on their crashes. Most people I know who listen to a lot of audio will have a separate setup for that anyway unless they happen to also produce it. Unless you have interference or feedback it's really hard to justify discrete sound cards these days, most people can't pass a double blind on discrete vs onboard. The number of idiots with $100+ crap gamergear headphones hooked up to soundcards is probably still a mindblowing figure though.
