I think Bioware's been talking about a Jade Empire sequel since 2003 or so.
I liked it well enough, played through it several times. It had an AWESOME arena. Best arena ever made in any game.
I'd definitely play a sequel, but I just don't really see it happening.

| Jade Empire wasn't perfect but it deserves the praise it's received. Unfortunately it also used a system that no other game has even touched, so I'm sure if BioWare makes another they'll Dragon Age 2 it into a single-player MMO again. |

| It was a fun but not the type of game I ever went and picked back up to play through again. I'd buy a sequel I think but I'd probably wait for it to hit the bargain bin or get it used rather then paying full price. |

It had more stats than ME2, sure, but 99% of the gameplay consisted of shooting dudes in the face. It was always more of a shooter than an RPG. ME2 stripped away some of the stats but it was still a shooter first and foremost, just like the original. That was my take on ME2 as well. I got the feeling that people who say they hated it were more pissed that it didn't follow right into the final battle with the Reapers, and instead, was more of a side-quest before the final showdown in ME3. I still enjoyed the ride...not sure what they are complaining about.
The game felt better as a shooter in 2. The first game had some clunkiness to it that felt awkward in places. They fixed that...but went a bit too far in removing customization options. They supposedly put weapon customization back into ME3. |

ME2 just felt... blah. For some reason I just couldn't get into ME2.
A Jade Empire sequel would most likely end up as a melee version of ME. Depending on how it was done could be badass but I have little faith. |

I thought Mass Effect was bad ass. Bought the second one on sale after reading reviews... and it sucked as much as I thought it would. Still haven't finished it. DA was their last decent game.
It's been nothing but down hill since BG. |

If ME3 comes along (their second title made entirely under EA's control) and sucks as hard as DA2 did, then I will be convinced that Bioware's good days are behind them and likely never pick up another one of their games so long as they were connected at the hip with EA. If you recall, EA bought BioWare just before Mass Effect 1 was released, so ME2 was developed entirely under the EA umbrella. |

But it was great as far as characters, writing, artwork, player choices and setting. Actually, 'brawling' was what killed the game for me in the first place.
This is a game about martial arts. Why am I not doing martial art moves like counters, combos, blocks etc? All the game was, was a button mash fest. That's the last thing I want from a game that reminds me of old school kung fu movies. |

I liked Jade Empire myself too. I agree it was great to get a fresh west style RPG vs the usual status-quo of Orc's and Dwarves.
In that game I realized I sucked at the martial arts of it so, I just kept putting points into making the sword last longer. Enough to where I only used that for the rest of the game.
If they end up DA2'ing its sequel I will be avoiding it completely. |

| Don't know where the hate is coming from. I thought Jade Empire was a fantastic breath of fresh air to the genre and hugely fun when it was first released. I'd love to see a sequel (that isn't a gritty FPS reboot). |

It's really not a very good game. That was my reaction. It could have used a combat system more like Witcher 2. That button mash stuff was horrible. But probably just what the doctor ordered for a hit on consoles...
The setting I did like and the story...but after I realized that your martial arts abilities weren't even very impressive, I quit. Transforming into creatures as advanced techniques didn't make me jump for joy. |

| I liked Jade Empire. The RPG mechanics could have definitely been better but the setting was great and the story was interesting. I'd love to see a sequel but I doubt it's going to happen. Sad as it may be, I don't think EA would ever be willing to finance a game where 99.9% of the characters are distinctly Asian, including the player. |
