Red Orchestra 2 Patched

A new patch for Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad is now automatically available on Steam to update Tripwire Interactive's recently released World War II first-person shooter. Here's the change list:

  •  Fixed a bug where all sound would sometimes cut out when the map changes
  • Various crash fixes for server and client
  • Client performance optimizations
  • Single Player Fix - fixed "double music" playing when loading the game from a checkpoint
  • Added the ability to enable webadmin through the commandline. This will allow you to override what is in the ini files, thus fixing up any issues with inis getting overwritten by updates. To enable webadmin via the commandline add EnableWebAdmin=True to the "?" separated commandline parameters. To set the webadmin port add WebAdminPort= to the "?" separated commandline parameters.

RO1 was a niche game, RO2 will be too, no doubt.
As for the inane drivel spewn by the troll above (eddiesomething), no this game wont disappear, and yes it will get stronger as time passes like Ostfront did. There is a very healthy community around this game and full support from the developers. RO1 was even less polished at first, but it kept going strong even years after its release. Game mechanics are good, and a superb platform for large scale combined armor / troops warfare. Mods for RO1 were fantastic (i think of Darkest Hour for example), no reason they should be worse in RO2.
I dont have a 590 and yet i can run at 90-100 fps with everything on "high". The game seems to be heavily CPU dependant. Dunno who's the idiot here...

The other guy may have been trolling with some if what he said. But what I quoted and responded to was legitimately the same thing I said about Ostfront. And that portion was requoted with my comment, referring it to trolling.

I don't use the term fanboy very often. But applies to ASeven considering what he is whining about is the same thing he has done in other threads about BF3. Remember how he said RO2 was going to be way bigger than BF3 or MW3? Ya ok.

I'm done here too anyway. Just pissed that whenever I try and read their forums to see if issues are fixed or not I get flooded by troll threads written by pretty much the same people. Rather infuriating to see that leak into here too.

But when someone talks about RO2 in an RO2 thread and shares their opinion about that game, you call it trolling. Moron.

The dude was dissing on programmers at the company and only vaguely commenting on the game, I think trolling is a fairly appropriate label for it. If people want to talk technical problems I can yammer their ear off about what I'd like to see improved in RO2. It's certainly not a bad game though and I see a fairly positive forum community for the game on all of the big sites.

But yes ASeven, you were trolling the BF3 threads pretty hard with this

Conversely, calling someone a fantard because you don't like something is equally dumb. I know people who liked Homefront which to me was the very definition of mediocre but I don't call them fanboys when they speak up in its defense. RO2 undoubtedly has issues, whether they ruin the experience is something that is inherently subjective and can't really be generalized. I think there is a good (not great) game there in the limited time I've spent with it but I do agree that there are issues to be worked on. I can't agree with the assessment that it is fundamentally broken and insulting the programmers is just immature nonsense.

Fantards are fantards. The honest reviews out there have all trashed the game for what it is. Not what it may be some day down the road at an undetermined point in the future which may never arrive at all if TWI goes bankrupt. The positive reviews are all reviewing what they hope the game will be - all of them have a line similar to this "While the launch has been rough so far with many show stopping bugs, poor performance, boring visuals, horrible server browsing, and a broken cover mechanics and movement system: TWI has always supported its games well. No doubt one day they will have RO2 fixed up nicely." I have even seen mods being mentioned as a reason to pick up a copy. Are you serious? A modded up turd is still a turd - and while everyone says "Oh man, I'm going to do [insert dime a dozen idea here]", not much cream ever floats above the crap. This game is busted at its core system level - no amount of mods and user generated content can fix this until TWI get's programmers who know what they are doing.

I try to blast my windows partition off every month or so. It only gets used for gaming at this point so the impact to myself is minimal. Have you seen how quick you can build a ghosted volume on a SSD? I execute a scrip and by the time my coffee is done brewing I have a fresh win partition to clutter up again. SSD to SSD data transferring is bonkers fast. It almost makes it fun

You and that one other guy sure were lonely

The hilarious and well deserved dredging that DA2 got was amusing but has nothing to do with this game. Most people are upset at technical issues (understandable) but many have been fixed up since release and the game is certainly quite playable.

Pretty much this.

I'm pretty sure if someone said "BUT DID YOU GIGAFLOP THE TERAHERTZ TO THE CHRONOMETER GTX 610?!" you'd have a response about how it was a Tripwires fault (you seem hilariously hostile to a non-entity) and that you already tried doing X with your Y hardware which is way better than Z.

Hmmm..that sounds like you talking about anyone who liked Dragon Age II.

That's what I thought. So I reformatted my system, installed the latest drivers, and still get dramatically bad FPS. UT3 looks much better than RO2 and has larger maps with much more detail - its rare for my system to dip below 200fps with everything maxed. RO2 is running at 40-60fps while looking terrible and having much less going on. Its not my system. It's TWI's crap programmers. Their reach far exceeds their grasp. They really should have used UDK to develop this. You can't break core engine functionality and royally mess things up to the point they are presently at. For some reason TWI saw fit to go and mess with systems that no other UE3 projects bother touching since the systems work. There is a reason their programmers were not in the industry already: they should have stuck with office software.

RO2 is playable and a fun experience already.
The morons who whine about performance have subpar hardware and put everything on ultra. Then proceed to complain that it doesnt run as well as crappy console games.
Hint: this is a PC game, not a console port. The level of details on each map is enormous, with LOS extending to the horizon (weather allowing). Add 64 players running around... They modeled every little stone that litters the streets in 3D, the destructed wall edges also have every small detail.
So yeah, it will stress out your 470 and core 2. Running a moderately powerful setup here, and everything runs smooth on high detail (my vid cards are not up to date).

You are some kind of idiot bro. I have a GTX 590. The game looks like COD 2 and plays like a slide show. Tripwire can't write proper code. I have been playing BF3 since the alpha trial started and my performance has been spectacular - as it should be. Tripwire can't fix the problems they made inside of UE3 because they are just a mod team, that's it. This game stinks of immature developers and horribly written code. Rather then hire real programmers to fix their mess - they are stripping detail out of their already empty maps. I have run the game in a profiler and my systems is sitting idle most of the time (better the 50%) just waiting for whatever garbage code TWI needlessly added to get its act together. I have 6 cores and yet RO2 only uses one. Every other UE3 game is properly threaded because UE3 is engineered from the start to work on multicore systems. That means TWI actually had to go into the code base and break the threading. TWI also shipped the game with a ton of stuff compiled to debug profiles - that's a mistake first year unpaid interns make and then get canned for. Get your tongue out of TWI's butt already. The game is a joke. The player base is already declining and this game will be dead shortly. Who cares about mod tools when the base game is such a turd? TWI is not going to fix this mess because they lack the skill and talent to do so. TWI fantards are like gollum only instead of a ring its a piece of shit.

If any of those companies ever released a game in the state RO2 was released in, you would be screaming bloody murder and people at the company would be getting fired. It's not forgivable simply because they'll fix it eventually. It was sheer incompetence, nothing more. They may have the creative positions down, with decent graphics, sound and solid design ideas, but they seriously need to hire some real, effective project managers and testing leads. If they even have any right now, they're either terrible at their jobs, or they're being ignored by their bosses.

Are you this idiotic? BC2 was as broken, if not more than Ro2. CoD:BO was terrible. MW2, should I remind you of the glitches that could break the game?

This game was broken, saying that the other companies didn't release games as broken or more than this makes you a troll with brown-rosed glasses.

As you've said, in a month's time it'll be well. Surprisingly enough that's the amount of time Treyarch took to release a single patch for BO.

Haters gonna hate, trolls gonna troll.
