No Bastion DLC Plans

This interview on The Morton Report kicks off a conversation that concludes with this Part 2, talking with Greg Kasavin of on Supergiant Games about Bastion. Though they did add Portal turrets to the Steam version of their action/RPG, he says that while they "intend to continue supporting the game," they don't plan on any DLC, as they "held nothing back" from the game (thanks Kotaku). Here's the quote:

No, we have no plans to extend the game in that way. As I was saying before, we held nothing back. It's meant to be a complete story, so there are no obvious extensions. We of course intend to continue supporting the game and I guess you could call something like the Portal turrets DLC. We'll continue looking at things like that which we could do, but that's it.

Somewhere on the internet, a man named Beamer just had his head explode.

His last words were reportedly "IT'S NOT CUT CONTENT!!!!!!!!"

I think his mouth was too full to speak.

Yeah, Bastion was well worth the bucks, neat little adventure, really classy narration setup and can be very challenging (not a spoiler, adding idols to the game ramps up the difficulty of your foes but awards more xp/cash).

I'm planning to get this.

Right now I'm just getting started on Sanctum(I likes me some FPS tower defense). I'd say this is a good year for indie devs and indie games.

I may need some kind of Singularity Time Manipulator to work everything in though... Juggle

What's Spacechem?

This and Spacechem are the best 15€ (each) I've spent this year.

Yeah, those two would be my picks for "Indie Game of the Year" so far.

I'm having better luck with an Xbox controller than mouse+WASD.

I need to try the controller on my next playthrough. There's some specialized movement toward the end of the game that I think would have been less irritating with the controller.

+1 for recommending Bastion. Not usually my kind of thing, but I've been having a lot of fun with it. The narration is brilliant, and I have to wonder why I've never seen anything like this before.

Fantastic game. Finished it and launched immediately into New Game Plus.

This and Spacechem are the best 15€ (each) I've spent this year.

I applaud the "we held nothing back" mentality.

Still need to pick this up, but I already have no time to play everything I've just bought. Deus Ex will happily tide me over until Rage comes out, with a few bouts of Ultima 4 in between.

I will get to you, Bastion, I promise.

I didn't care for the game personally, but it's not bad by any stretch. I mostly want to applaud the devs making a point against DLC by saying "we held nothing back." rather than just not wanting to make anymore. Kind puts the rest of the industry's greedy attitude for DLC into perspective, which is nice and responsible on their part.

There is such an incredible amount of content and variety in the game, this isn't a bad thing at all. Easily worth the $15. Already played it for 6+ hours, haven't beaten it once yet, but I can imagine going back for a second play through using the New Game+ stuff.

Weird timing. About 30 min before today's updates went on I purchased Bastion on Steam... having only just learned about it while browsing the store.

And boom. Blues refreshes with the top news item about it.
