| I'm happy you were able to discover google, teach yourself something and come to the same conclusion I did in the first post. Let me know if you need any other instructional help on things like how to tie your shoelaces and whatnot. |

1080p is a resolution of 1920 x 1080... so yeh on a 24" its going to be more ppi, because the screen is smaller - its simple math, and should be pretty obvious if you know what you are talking about
if you want a small screen, go right ahead - i use my pc for much more than gaming so it comes in handy |

PHJF, yeah, I probably wouldn't go with a 40 inch; a 32 inch seems more than plenty.
Creston The PPI on a TV is pretty ridiculous compared to a monitor, in a bad way. I did it with a 32" Samsung HDTV for awhile but eventually went back to a 24" Dell monitor. You need to sit a good 3-5 feet away to game on something that big. Reading text on them sucks too even with a 1080p TV. |

If I recall right about that version of Quake, it always crashes as the big gun blows up.
I found out that you have to turn of all of the OpenGL goodies to get past that part (mainly I think it was the shadows)...
Once you are past that part, you can turn them back on. There was also a couple other spots in the game with the same problem.

| I had a brief stint using my 40" Bravia LCD for PC gaming. It was fine if you didn't mind sitting three feet in front of a 40" screen. In the end I stopped because I use my PC so damn much and I don't want that kind of constant stress on my expensive TV (damn my eyes; they can take it). |

It's insane that you pay 1200 bucks for a 30 inch monitor, and a 32 inch 1080p TV can be found on sale for ~350 bucks. Obviously the resolution is lower (2500x1600 vs 1980x1020), but that's not really that big a deal to me.
I want to get a bigger monitor, and I'm doubting between a 27inch monitor or a 32 inch TV.
Any thoughts?
Creston LCD TVs are pretty notorious for having really terrible intput->output latency. This is probably a thing that you'll want to check on any models you consider. |

I noticed the exact same thing awhile back. Only thing I didn't compare would be the response time (in MS).
I'd be curious what you come up with, as well.
