I may give up on my plan to play through the original QUAKE using the Dark Places mod, as I seem to have lost my saved-game progress most of the way through the second chapter. If I can't figure out what's gone wrong there, I may not be willing to play through it again so soon.

1080p is a resolution of 1920 x 1080... so yeh on a 24" its going to be more ppi, because the screen is smaller - its simple math, and should be pretty obvious if you know what you are talking about

if you want a small screen, go right ahead - i use my pc for much more than gaming so it comes in handy

I did it with a 32" Samsung HDTV for awhile but eventually went back to a 24" Dell monitor. You need to sit a good 3-5 feet away to game on something that big. Reading text on them sucks too even with a 1080p TV.

If I recall right about that version of Quake, it always crashes as the big gun blows up. I found out that you have to turn of all of the OpenGL goodies to get past that part (mainly I think it was the shadows)... Once you are past that part, you can turn them back on. There was also a couple other spots in the game with the same problem. Kurt

its the same thing, except bigger.. i dont have a tv hooked up at all.. i watch digital format shows/movies

I had a brief stint using my 40" Bravia LCD for PC gaming. It was fine if you didn't mind sitting three feet in front of a 40" screen. In the end I stopped because I use my PC so damn much and I don't want that kind of constant stress on my expensive TV (damn my eyes; they can take it).

I noticed the exact same thing awhile back. Only thing I didn't compare would be the response time (in MS).
