2K Czech Layoffs

Develop has word on layoffs at Mafia II developer 2K Czech, saying 40 positions have been lost at the developer formerly known as Illusion Softworks, adding: "Another studio, based in Prague, is thought to have lost less than ten staff." 2K Games says it "has realigned its resources to streamline the development process, reduce costs and maximize studio performance."

Sigh... So much for my slim hope of a Hidden and Dangerous 3.
Indeed, there's been no "new game" news on my website for 8 years! that said, Mafia 2 took 8 years to develop... difficult to develop a game with little to no staff though.

True, you'd think investors and shareholders would prefer the straight version. Perhaps when you are investing in a load of different companies, you scan press releases for phrases like "losing money" and "up the creek" so PR writers avoid this.

Why don't these people ever use the truth? "The studio was losing money so we had to cut some positions."

There. that wasn't so hard.

"They're losing money?! Quick, sell all our stock and sack the board at the next AGM!"

I would actually be more upset at the original version, since it implies that:

(a) the company's PR staff are idiots, and

(b) they assume the shareholders are similarly challenged.
