The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Interview

Destructoid offers this video interview from PAX talking with Matt Carofano, lead artist on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim about the upcoming installment in Bethesda's RPG series. They discuss the number of fish in the game, and less pressing topics like vampires, werewolves, same-sex marriages, inter-species marriages, dragons, and much more.

The elves look really fugly in this game. I thought only the Dark Elves would look like that but apparently the High Elves and Wood Elves look like aliens too. I may have to play as a Khajitt or Argonian this time.

And yeah, the Destructoid interviewer was retarded. Apparently he didn't play or do any research on any of the previous Elder Scrolls games.

Haha! Well played, sir.

Can you marry another race? an Argonian Khajiit baby would be cute right?

No, that'd be "pandering" to the furry community.

Well if you listen to the interview it's possible to marry a 'beast' race, although no mention of progeny was made. You can certainly characterize it as you see fit, but pandering would seem to be a fair appraisal of motivation.

No this is an actual game, not a sandbox without a point.

I think I'm going to make the Skyrim release a vacation day and buy it as soon as the Steam pre-loads begin.

And he never did say how many different kinds of fish there are.

No, it's not pandering. It's, as he said, about keeping things equal. However, yes the interviewer was a clueless twit.

That interviewer (Max?) came across as a clueless twit. He could've done a bit of preparation and tailored his questions toward the core competency of his guest. Eh, whatever.

So same-sex marriage is ridiculous but fighting dragons, werewolves and vampires is not? Let's stick to the important topics...like the number of fish in the game.

It's just some silly pandering, but really what difference does it make? This is just some optional content that's intended to set some hearts aflutter amongst the LGBT crowd and relatively meaningless in any other context. *shrug*

Numbers of fish in the game is a dealbreaker to me. If it's not at least 50000, I'm not buying.

It's easier to make same-sex marriage than prevent it. And it's less alienating to part of your userbase. And it isn't discriminatory.

Why make extra code to hurt people?
