Hawken Trailer

IGN now offers the promised trailer for Hawken, Adhesive Games' upcoming mech combat game. The clip highlights the game's story, but caps off with a little combat just for good measure, noting that this is still from a prototype, and is not reflective of the finished product. It also concludes showing a logo for DJ2 Entertainment, the company that that recently picked up the game's film rights.

Shogo wasn't a mech sim either, but it was an awesome mech game. Better than anything on a console(and I've owned plenty of console mech games)

No way is this going to be a mech sim. Fine by be, as I've never enjoyed that genre but hopefully there aren't too many people expecting that.

By Next Gen, I mean the visuals fyi. Just to clarify. And, it IS a Mech game. It`s a game right? Where you pilot Mechs? Not a SIM. But boyos it looks awesome.

And jump jettings right up my alley. I loved using the Hunter in Heavy Gear 2. I don`t know if Hawken will be all that. But, we fans of Mech games HAVE to support it, to send a clear message to Dev teams and Producers.... right?

There IS a market for Mech gaming.

We will see about that. Just making the player model huge, sticking bugs guns on it, making a fancy HUD and giving it inertia doesn't make it necessary a MECH game.
I'm curious about how it plays in the end and will definitely give it the benefit of the doubt but on the other hand I'm not really getting my hopes up.

Imo console releases are not worthy of mension compared to PCs. Call it what you will tho. Obviously I am talking bout PCs. I knew about the console releases you mentioned.

There has been no worthy PC game Mech SIM release. Hell, even Mechwarrior 4 is not worthy of mention. Mechwarrior 3, tho it`s maps sucked wind, it at least FEELS like a true Mech piloting SIM.

And like what ya see in Hawken or not, it is THE 1st real Mech type game on the horizon that can actually be called Next Gen. I stand by what I said, the Big Boys got freaking pwn3d by a team of 5 Indys, with little to no budget behind em.

Shame worthy for sure.

And Front Mission Evolved is on the PC too.
It is capable of running on a PC. It's not a PC game

They're console games.

True, but he didn't specify PC mech games, just mech games in general. And Front Mission Evolved is on the PC too.

That's all well and good but can we get a REAL mech game and not UT with a fancy HUD?

Someone please make a game like this with a destructible terrain engine.

Now would it not be cool if EA supported modding with the Frostbite 2 engine?

There have been a bunch of mech games released over the past decade. Armored Core, Front Mission Evolved, Steel Battalion and Chromehounds come to mind. Granted, these were all Japanese (or Japanese-inspired) mech games but mech games nonetheless. Hawken doesn't really resemble traditional western mech games and looks to be a hybrid between Japanese and western styles.

They're console games.

Gotta add that I find it odd, sad, dispicable how we went so many years with absolutely no new Mech game developement..... and it took a team of 5 Indy dudes to finally bring a new Mech offering to the table.

Imho, Micro$oft and many others should be hanging their heads in shame..... right about now. There has always been a huge freaking Mech consumer/player base. The money has always been ready to be spent. They had absolutely nothing to lose, and much to gain.

But they dragged their sorry azzes , prolly cause of some moron Suit no doubt.

Goddamn I am just such a slut for mech games... = D

Looking good, I do like the faster pace (don't get me wrong, I love Battletech and it's lumbering behemoths but somethings sometimes you want a little fast and frisky action ala Heavy Gear)

edit: bah, typing faster than thinking...

It`d be a real pity if this game doesn`t include maps in low grav atmospheres. Aka..... Space.
