Out of the Blue

Yesterday I picked up the pups from camp to accomplish the last errand to conclude our trip to Atlanta. As has happened before, Hudson the wonder dog was happy to see both of us, but while the Gunnar-man greeted me enthusiastically, he gave MrsBlue the cold shoulder, because he considers her his person, and obviously blamed her for leaving him behind. This happened the last time we went away, and it took him over a day to forgive her. This time, however, the silent treatment lasted until we stopped off on the way home and she ran into a store for a few minutes. He watched intently as she left, and when she returned he became overjoyed and kissed her enthusiastically. It seems apparent this brief second absence shocked him into gratitude for being reunited, and he immediately stopped overplaying his hand, err, paw.

Maybe they didn't feel the quake downstair since it is more noticeable upstair. I guess you can't trust your dogs to predict quakes. Haha!

Oh no, they felt it, believe me. The whole house shook for probably 10 seconds. And this place is built like a brick shithouse. Actually, it is just that, since it's made of brick, and filled with my shit.
And dog's and your wife's shit? Show us your shits! Wait, we're potty mouths in here. Bad Blue!

Holy moly... earthquake! Was just a rumble here, but wow. Hope everyone in the VA area is safe.

Edit: nin-jaed.
Did your dogs freak out from that quake?

It was actually not so bad. After it hit I went downstairs to make sure the were okay by cheerfully asking them things like "wasn't that great?" and "let's do that again!" but they were fine with it without me.

Actually Gunnar-man is fine with anything, it's Hudson the wonder dog who gets freaked by odd things, and it's hard to predict what they will be. The quake didn't phase her, but she hates the beeping the smoke alarm makes when its battery is low so much, that when a smoke alarm did that on TV as part of a show we were watching the other night (maybe it was Weeds?) she ended up trembling uncontrollably for more than half-an-hour.

@Hoop: Very interesting advice, reminds me of the ones they used to give us in the army about how to "survive" a nuclear strike, which if i remember correctly is to throw yourself to the ground "away" from the strike and cover your head and ears with your hands. Very useful info that...

If you ever get a serious quake drop & get under a solid table, it will pass. Many of our casualties freaked by the noise, action & shit flying around ran outside some with kids only for balconies to drop on them, the building they ran from still stood.

We felt it in the Detroit area a surprising amount.

I actually called it before it got slightly stronger (still barely perceptible though). Started wobbling, "Are we having an earthquake?" started wobbling stronger "Yeah definitely an earthquake."

Yup I'm bragging about my superhuman ability to detect wobbliness.

Yeah, we got some shakin all over here too. Heh, remember when that Iranian cleric said that it was all the promiscuity and sin in the west that caused earthquakes? Well, as someone wiser than I said...."If the planet is a rockin' don't come a knockin'!"
