Call me crazy but I don't even use wifi on my Kindle... I, get this, plug it in when I want to sync! Calibre is a great ebook manager.
And if you get a Kindle, do yourself a favor and jailbreak it because for some reason they don't give you the option of custom screensavers. The default ones are eyes-bleeding bad. |

But it gets worse. Out here in the Bay Area we can't get new cell towers to even connect to our crappy wireless network because the same people that complain about not getting service vote down the granting of permits for new cell nodes in the very dead zones they complain about.

The Vita is costly? Is this idiot challenged or just clueless? The Vita is launching at the same pricepoint the 3DS launched at. A pricepoint that Reggie said he wouldn't lower, which they have being afraid of the Vita and all.
$250 for a portable that has graphics near PS3 quality and can do other stuff as well is a pretty damn good deal to me. |

If I had to do it over again I wouldn't have bought the 3g version and just got the wifi. I wouldn't. I've used the 3G in places where I've had to pay for wifi and hadn't felt like it, such as airports. I've used it for rudimentary web browsing in the middle of nowhere, as well, and I purchased a 3G for family members too technophobic to ever figure out how to connect to wifi.
But I also purchased on Mother's Day, when the 3G came with a $30 gift card, making it only $20 over the WiFi. $50 would have been harder to justify. |

Don't any of you people have access to the things they call librarys? When you're there perhaps you could look up the proper spelling of the word Cutter. |

Also I would guess that a new kindle is due soon so anyone planning to buy one may want to wait a month or two if they can. I read that, too. There was speculation about a color screen, but I can't think that would be cheap.

Couldn't even read the Kindle article. The first two paragraphs are so poorly written that it makes me cringe. Any site that publishes something as grammatically retarded as that article has nothing intelligent to say.
I've had two Kindles, the first version and the newest version. I'll take readability and ease of use over gimmicks. (OOooh, color touch pad!) |

I've had a kindle3g since November and have read more books since buying it than the five years before I got it. If I had to do it over again I wouldn't have bought the 3g version and just got the wifi. But I live overseas on a Navy base so the free 3g appealed to me but in reality I hardly ever use the kindle store on the device off of my wifi.
Also I would guess that a new kindle is due soon so anyone planning to buy one may want to wait a month or two if they can. |

bn.com is essentially a completely different entity than barnes & noble b&m, and I'd expect it to be around a long time, although I find it amusing that the two employees I know are both Prime members (not even they are certain why anyone would use their employer over amazon.)
I'd go with the Kindle virtually regardless of comparison. Being able to buy and download books with it anywhere via my amazon account is a huge draw, as is one-click shopping on the website with the purchase sent instantly to my kindle.
As purchasing and reading books is the primary purpose, I'll stick with the product that makes it easiest. |

He described the pricing issue as a “balancing act,” adding: “The tiered data plans will meet the needs of the overwhelming majority of consumers. A lot of people think they’re heavy users, but they’re not.” "It's a balancing act. We have to balance our greed for absurd profit margins with the fact that these fucking users actually want an actual SERVICE for that money. It'd be so much easier if they just gave us all $100 a month and didn't expect anything in return. Is that so much to ask for? We're barely making rent here at AT&T.
"Plus, you know, a lot of people think they're heavy users, but they aren't. If they don't have a smartphone, they can't use data. And if they DO have a smartphone, they can't use data either, because we'll charge them ridiculous amounts of money for it. I mean, it's obscene how much markup there is on a Gig of data. We sell it to you for $15 bucks, and it costs us literally 4 cents.
"But still, come on. You get TWO gigs of data for your 30 bucks! TWO GIGS! That's a profit margin of $29,92, and that's not a lot, people. Plus, you know how much 2 Gigs a month is? That's 66MB a DAY, people! You load the front page of ESPN and watch one Youtube video, and you're done for the day. What more do you fucking want? Be glad we don't just shut it off!"
It's fucking unbelievable. And those corrupt cocksuckers in congress are holding open their greasy palms and giggle.
30 bucks for 2 fucking Gigs. Die in a fucking fire, AT&T/Verizon.

| Hah, I remember fondly of the 680x0 cpus, they made the Amiga quite special. Guess Motorolla declined since the death of the Amiga, Apple ditching the 680x0 and PowerPc architecture and all their projects not catching on as those cpus did. |

Not only that, but now that Borders is already packing up shop, how long until B&N does the same? Amazon will be around for a loooong time. B&N? I don't think they'll last... I thought the same thing. The nook would really have to be amazing, and even then, I doubt B+N will be around in 10 years.
Amazon isn't going anywhere.
