You can be level 50 and 90% of the drops are still white trash. I think I played through PT2 with my soldier while never finding a decent upgrade.

Yeah that's around where the shotgun I use on my soldier is at too. Plus 20 rounds and a stupidly fast firing rate and it does shred like a motherfucker. Especially when my rate of fire doubles after killing something.
The loot tables needed to be balanced better though. Diablo 2 had this manic loot table progression that ensured you never stayed with the same item for more than a few levels. Borderlands had weapon plateaus that stretched for sometimes 10 or more levels.
Plus, combat didn't get really interesting until the expansions- notably General Knoxx's expansion was pretty decent.
Oh, and the super mega ninja claptrap one boss is bullshit. |

Solo it was slow, but Coop it was a lot of fun and pretty difficult at times. The endless weapons the game gave you was pretty kewl too. I'm surprised, I found the much vaunted million guns stuff to be one of the weakest parts of the game. Weapon balance was terrible and the majority of weapon mods were undesirable. Shotguns and explosives were almost worthless compared to equal level items which really hurt variety too. It was good in the sense that there was a lot of stuff to collect but bad in that the inventory functionality wasn't very accommodating and there was too much garbage. I'm gonna disagree with you on that. Shotguns are probably the most powerful weapon in game, you just have to be able/willing to let the enemy get close enough.
If you find a decent shotgun in the early game, you can basically use it all the way up to level 30 or so for one-shot-one-kill purposes. (though yes, that does affirm your imbalance point. )
I will agree that the weapons weren't as cool as they kept trying to make them out to be. Many of the weapons were basically exactly the same, they were just from a different "manufacturer."
Hopefully there will be more things to equip in the sequel. Though that'd probably get too complicated for the "BRAH!" crowd...

I hated it. I can't believe enough people actually liked it to warrant a sequel. I didn't hate it but it's low on depth and Pitchford lied out of his ass about the PC port last time so I'm going to wait until its $20 or less. It was really difficult to get multiplayer games going with friends for the first few months too as they shipped without even a UPnP implementation. Gotta love those games where you're trying to instruct friends on how to port forward on their $20 Netgear router.
Maybe this time they will manage to ship with 2 whole abilities per character. |

I agree with Cutter I did not really like the game either but I absolutely LOVED the art style & wished they would have done a western type shooter like "outlaws" in that art style. |
