Funny, I just tried the demo for Bulletstorm last night. Holy cow, was it bad. So glad I never bought it.
We're talkin $5 at most Steam sale bad.
people who say they want something like Duke Nukem 3D with today's graphics really do not want Duke Nukem 3D with today's graphics. Except they do. DNF had regenning health and a 2 weapon limit, something anyone that played DN3D hated.

The studio has shipped AAA content... What does that even mean? Whoever first coined that should be shot. Plus by the sounds of it, if they did ship "AAA content", they certainly didn't ship very much of it. |

I liked Bulletstorm much more than I thought I would. It was gifted to me so price wasn't a factor, but still I value my time much more than the $20-60 the game might cost. The main negative about Bulletsorm is that it's on rails. The positives are many: tactical scoring with cool combos, a decent story, good visuals. Bulletsorm was a good title with innovative elements, and I was happy to have played it (and I still play the Echoes every once in a while to let off steam). |

All these Bulletstorm detractors... it goes to show you, people who say they want something like Duke Nukem 3D with today's graphics really do not want Duke Nukem 3D with today's graphics. When did Bulletstorm detractors ever say that? Bulletstorm isn't Duke Nukem 3D with a modern engine, it is many bad things but lets not insult it that much. |

I'm not going to say Bulletstorm was a great game by any stretch of the imagination, but it tried - and in some ways succeeded in - tapping the DN3D vibe.
There's just no pleasing some people. |

You can't jump in Bulletstorm, right? I am amazed it sold more than 10,000 copies.
Not that jumping is integral to a FPS, but what exactly was their horribly contrived reasoning for no jumping?
I assume it was running out of buttons on the console that led to the no jumping decision?
No jumping is why I boycotted Guild Wars 1. |

| I agree about the $60 price. Most stores in my area kept the price above $50 for so long. Based on the reviews, it's too short of a game for that price. I want the game but I've been waiting for it to be a little cheaper. |

Bulletstorm was a rail shooter with a lame gimmick that I could care less about while playing. Add those 2 things together and you don't have a game. Couldnt be bothered to even finish the game.
The dialogue was as if it was written in another language (where it doesn't sound as ridiculous) then translated by a teenage boy.

Great game, very against the stale modern warfare CoD clones we get most of the time. Not rewarded with sales though, so now we'll see even less of that for a while. Great! |

I find the analyses of the game's humor here to be pretty bizarre. It had some pretty funny dialog, actually better than a lot of games manage, but it was more in the vein of stuff like, well, pretty much any movie with Vin Diesel in it. Which is to say that while some of it was good, a lot was just typical macho BS talk. Still, the game was fun, and trying to pull off all the different types of kills was challenging. After playing through the SP, I actually started playing through some missions again, just to try to pull off some of the tougher ones, and because I had gotten the hang of the game by then, the earlier levels were actually fun to play through again.
If it had been a bit less of an on-rails thing, that might have made it better too. |

Sorry everyone else played the game for the introduction sequence and it didn't grab them. Their free time is valuable so they abandoned the game immediately. |

It has been discounted on a more recurrent basis as of late - I purchased it for $12 from GG at the start of last month.
This was a $20-$30 game with a vastly inflated price tag. Additionally, this is not much of a game or shooter - just a giggle/point fest. Lastly, even accounting for the gameplay, the demo really left a bad impression with me while the actual game has been more fun. Which, again, the price tag had a big part in. Just killing things over and over and over and over and over, Ray
Edit: I view DNF as silly/immature, but Bulletstorm comes off as moronic. One is trying to be humorous whereas the other is awkwardly funny due to how hard it is trying to prove its toughness (to say nothing of the point system...) |

they shot themselves in the foot on this one as far as i'm concerned. i would have bought it release day for 50 bucks, but not 60. then my interest in it waned the more i heard. i see it's plummeted to 25 bucks on amazon, but i'll still be waiting i think. This was EA I'd guess, and I agree. When it wasn't selling they should have cut the price. Instead it was still $60 as late as June while games from the same time were half that. I got about 7 hours out of the SP and another 15 or so out of multiplayer (was shocked when I saw I'd played it that much. Shocked.) It was $60 on Amazon when I bought it, with a $20 instant credit.
Definitely got my $40 worth. Had they dropped the price around there sooner I think sales would have been much stronger. |
