Out of the Blue

Happy 7/11! As always, those with access to a participating 7-Eleven location can help them celebrate the occasion by picking up a free Slurpee. The forecast calls for it to hit 93 F today in these parts, so I have a feeling a lot of locals will be availing themselves of this offer.

But MBAs don't suck because they're MBAs. Yes, they've done some serious damage to businesses, but leaving the engineers running things would be equally bad.

Pfft, according to you maybe. After working in the MBA driven culture at some very large failed companies I've concluded that these people basically exist to fill out expense reports and suckle at the company benefit teat. There are so many useless MBA/Middle Management types out there these days it kind of boggles the mind. Maybe the engineers running the show isn't preferable in the long term but we definitely need the balanced skewed in the other direction for awhile.

Agreed. And I don't think it's all focused on quarterly reports if the short term pain brings long term gain. Jesus, isn't capitalism at its heart about providing a better product/service at the best price? When we were kids we had large department stores that dealt with value brands, most of which were still manufactured here. The population base was havy industrialized and unionized and there was plenty of disposable economy to drive the economy and a cpmfortable way of life. There was corporate loyalty in brand recognition and work ethic.

Now what do we have? Dollar stores on every corner selling complete and utter shite made everywhere else but here. The unions have been busted and the industrialization base is gone. Skilled workers have been replaced with cheap labor immigrants in a failed multicultural experiment that doesn't work. The middle-class is vanishing, mostly into the poor side. You can't trust the banks or real-estate, which is still vastly overinflated in most places. There's zero loyalty and everyone is out for themself. And the negatives go on and on.

So tell me again, how the MBAs are a good thing?
