I either play the fuck out of games or barely play them at all. I have 25+ PS3 titles but have finished maybe five to ten.
I think a lot of it is that developers put their best foot forward and the ends of games tend to be the worst parts. More often than not finishing a game is a chore. |

I wish they'd publish a statistic on never-installed games. I'd wager it's somewhere between 10%-20%. Yes! I want to see this statistic as well. I've purchased plenty of games on steam that I just want in case I want to play them later. Monkey Island 2 comes to mind, played the first one on the 360, then I saw the 2nd on steam so I bought that, not sure if I ever installed it, then saw the 2nd on sale bought that, pretty sure I never installed those! |

I pretty much never start a game and don't finish. I can only think of Crysis where I got to, IIRC, shortly after the tanks section. I think I got a combination of tired of it and other distractions, I don't recall it being crap enough to actually not want to play it.
I almost never swap between games. I'm usually playing one MP game and occasionally taking a break from it from start to finishing a singleplayer game.
I guess I don't buy THAT many games though. |

| Does Steam have a metric on how many games get finished? I am notorious for getting 70%-80% of the way through a game and letting something else get me interested that makes me forgo what I had been playing. I try out as many games in my massive steam library as I can, and will often jump around between them like a bunny on crack waiting to see which ones get their hooks in me next. It's looking right now like Light of Altair is the current one, with Amnesia (thanks to mods) getting a lot of play as well. Zombie Driver is starting to get me hooked as well - MUST UNLOCK ALL CARS AND UPGRADES! |

ATM, I got 167 games on Steam. I played less than half of them and finished only 23 (just counted) I wish they'd publish a statistic on never-installed games. I'd wager it's somewhere between 10%-20%. |

Oh, and thanks for making me aware of GOG. Bought the Earth 2150 trilogy for 60% off a couple of days ago. Great RTS at a ridiculously low price. |

Also, this is the genius of Steam: I buy stuff that I'll never, ever install. Mount & Blade, I'm looking at you. These are games that are of moderate interest but I'll never find time for and always find something more immediately rewarding.
I used to buy games on an as-needed basis. Finish Game A? Go to the store and buy Game B. With Steam it's more "busy with Game A while you still have Game B and Game C to get through? But games D and E just went on sale for $4.99-$9.99! Buy buy buy, this sale will be so short that by the time most people realize it'll already be double the price!"
Then again, I still have 2 or 3 console games in shrinkwrap for similar reasons. Alone in the Dark seemed like a good deal at $5, but again, I really doubt I'll ever be in the "man, I have nothing to play/do and tons of free time" position again. |

I just watched the movie on Steam, which was very MineCrafty.
Good to know. I'm buying, unless the price drastically changed on me... |

Very wrong. It has some lite crafting mechanics but that's about where the similarities end. Terraria is more about combat, exploration and progression. It's more of a game than Minecraft is in the traditional sense. There are bosses, treasure and stuff like that.
Yes you can dig with a mining pick and make buildings but thats about as Minecraft as it gets. |

Singularity was only 33% off when I looked last night. Bogus. I would have picked it up had it still been 75% off. No chance at 33%.
So, about Terraria... looks very much like a 3rd person 2D Minecraft. How wrong am I? |

Borderlands is like Contra, or any ancient co-op game, that was fun with friends but didn't have much replay value.
I'd be curious to know what will be done with the franchise. I'm not sure if it met the developers financial expectations considering how much it was hyped, and the "lore" was shallow so a compelling idea for a sequel isn't readily apparent. |

| For the price it's at now, you'll probably get your money's worth in single player. I played through most of the main game with 2 different characters (restarted about halfway through the game with my first char). It does get repetitive after a while, but it's still fun enough to be worth it. I haven't played the DLC, so can't really say how that affects the game. I've heard good things about most of them though. |

| Never understood the hate for Borderlands. I have a blast with it every time I play. Sure, it isn't the greatest game ever, and its optimization for PC was less than stellar, but fundamentally it's a fun game imo. |

I heard it was shallow and repetitive but I don't know if that's fair, or if the DLC is the same. I liked it. Played it in single player mode and in co-op pretty often, and it was fun. It's a Diablo clone which comes as a Fallout-inspired egoshooter. |

Creston wrote on Jul 10, 2011, 22:41: Yeah, but I could have sworn there was a minimum level to each of them. I guess they changed that with the last patch that made playthrough 2.5 always scale everything to your level +1. (as opposed to everything being level 60-61.) Some of them do. The zombie island has a minimum level requirement of 10 and you have to have completed the main story up to a certain mission. The Secret Armory of General Knox missions start at level 35. You can travel there, but it will be quite hard to do anything with a low level character. Mad Moxxi and Claptrap Revolution scale to your character.
I bought two copies last time it was on sale for $7.50 and gave the other to a friend. I played a couple of hours of SP with a soldier, then we've played nothing but coop since. My friend picked soldier, so instead of two soldiers running around, I started a new hunter character for coop. It worked out great since I have a class mod that provides team health regen and he has one that provides team ammo regen. I don't know how we would have gotten through the Mad Moxxi without that. We beat all of the small tournaments and one of the large ones. We worked all damn day and got to round 18, but we were so exhausted we got knocked back to 15. We didn't know if you could leave and come back where you left off, so we just left out systems running overnight and picked back up the next day. |

The UI is ugly-consolised shit. The vehicles handle like shit. It's repetitive as hell. Some of the DLC has limited installs, while the main game doesn't. How fucking stupid is that???
Basically, anything Randy Pitchford is involved in quickly turns to shit. But Randy will tell you how awesome he, and in turn it, is. Totally agreed, Borderlands is unimaginative crap with no depth. |

BTW, Singularity is a VERY good shooter. I thought it was ok, but it felt like a total rip off of several other properties, notably the Half Life series. Eh, most FPS are very similar to others nowadays. I agree that the physics part is like HL2's gravity gun, but at least they don't go too overboard with it.

And yeah, I've mainly just played it SP. It's hard to get a good MP game going, and the quests still fuck up if you're with someone who's in another part of the game than you are. MP works great if you find some buddies and you all start from scratch.
