The PlanetSide 2 Website now offers the promised announcement of PlanetSide 2, a follow-up to SOE's MMO shooter. They offer some screenshots and concept art, a teaser trailer showing cinematics and gameplay, and a FAQ saying the game will be an MMOFPS, will include three factions, and will offer vehicular combat. They plan a beta before release, but a release date and the game's business model are not being revealed at this time. Here's word from the FAQ:
