I'm tempted by FO3:NV, but I need to know if there's mods which fix the bugs so that I can play through it properly.

Most of the mods don't really fix much, they just change the gameplay elements or modify cosmetic aspects of the game. The game is fully playable from start to finish and while you may encounter some scripting oddities, it is definitely a complete game that's been patched several times to fix most of the showstoppers.

Fable III was half-off a couple days ago, which is pretty darn good considering it just came out [for PC]. Makes me wish I had waited a bit longer, though I did enjoy the ~30 hours I spent with it one weekend.

Yeah, that'd be a pretty good deal if Fable 3 didn't suck so bad.

Any FONV on sale today with both DLC. Now that's a deal.

So going down briefly for maintenance at 5am EST (2am PST) is unacceptable?

This was no maintenance as confirmed by Valve already, several servers were unexpectedly down but everything has been restored by Valve within an hour...

That Frozen Synapse price finally looks about right, I think I'll bite on that and meh to the rest which I already own anyway. I think some of us are rapidly approaching the steam saturation point where stuff can go on sale all they want but we already own most of it

I'm at work, so can't actually use Steam...website had loaded fine and quickly.

Edit: Just loaded fine again...was slightly slower...but it's also 10am PST which is when the new deals switch over...so high traffic time.

Anyone know if Bully was ever fixed for PC? The crappy texture loading issues, etc? If not, looks like I keep my money today.

on a different note: Steam is completely down, no connections can be made to any steam server worldwide. Of course one can still play one's game offline.

Come on valve, this happens every big sale or game release, you need to start quadrupling your reserve bandwidth.

So going down briefly for maintenance at 5am EST (2am PST) is unacceptable?

Dev, you ranting about Steam not having enough servers, etc, etc is getting a little long in the tooth considering Steam has very very little downtime and even more rarely that it falls during prime-time.

Tropico 3, Torchlight, and Defense Grid are all very nice games for their genre.

Dragon Age Ultimate Edition is a 1 day sale for $10.20 that isn't visible on the front page. The Steam trailer does nothing for me and Shovelware isn't my favorite developer, but I'm still curious to see what all the fuss is about.

Dragon Age: Origins is actually a great game with meaningful choices and consequences and combat that doesn't require the use of an awesome button. The DLC and expansion seem not to be that great. I didn't buy any of them. But the base game is worth it IMO.

I trust the average PC gamer less than I do the average critic in terms of providing a good review.

Actually, a critic score of 76 and a user score of 5.4 are the same: average. Here is the 1-100 scale for reviewing video games:
95-100: Game of the Year
90-95: Good game and publisher gave us advertising revenue
80-89: Good game
70-80: Average game
65-69: Bad game
0-64: Not used

Yeah, except the validity of review scores is so tainted by advertising dollars that it's more like:

80-90: Garbage
90-99: Good
100: Call of Duty

Well come on it's got a meta critic score of 5.4, which means it's higher than Dragon Age II. I suppose that's at least going for it.

Oh and Witcher 2, yeah...what a great game that was. Especially since I've played both sides now.

I just bought it and yes it does. It's the first item in the main menu.

edit: ignore me, you're right. It's just the campaign.
