World of Tanks Coming to Retail

Wargaming.net announces that World of Tanks will soon be rolling into retail stores:

Wargaming.net is proud to announce their partnership with Interactive Gaming Software publisher (IGS) on the distribution of the highly popular free-to-play MMO game World of Tanks through commercial networks.

The essential benefit of this partnership is the strong relationships with retailers across the United States gained by IGS. World of Tanks will be offering special boxed editions to their network.

This is a great game, have been playing it a couple of months now. It's free, give it a try.

Its actually quite addictive , I love the way how objects are destructable to varying degrees i remember the battlefield series
where a tank would come to a grinding halt on a picket fence, not so
here. Mind you a bigger tank goes thru bigger items. bf tanks are a bad joke.
The only thing that annoys me is getting stuck on terrain, typically
hills and drops , its not always clear if that rise is passable
In all its a lot of fun, my nephews are even having a go on dial-up
( i patch everything up for them

And there are no firing solutions. You aim at the crosshair and press the mouse button. For SPGs (self propelled guns), you get an overhead view (press shift key). That slowly zooms in on where you're looking until you fire, then you zoom in again while it reloads. Regular tanks and tank destroyers are basically point and click.

You can get different shells, yes. There's usually at least 3 per turret. 1 for penetration, 1 for heat damage (lower penetration), and 1 that costs gold. Each tank has a few different types of equipment it can buy. For example, you can get different radios, different treads, different turrets. Crew members also level up on their own, but you don't do much with them.

You can also buy consumable items for the tank, like items that can repair your tank faster, treat an injured crew member, and a bunch of other stuff.

Since the game is free, I'd suggest trying it out. Cost is about $15 if you want a month of premium access (you buy like 3000 gold and use 2500 for 30 days of premium access). Premium access is basically extra money and experience.

I've been thinking about giving this game a try. It's been getting pretty decent reviews. I'm just wondering if it's more sim focused or more arcade focused? Can you choose different shells, set firing solutions, etc?
