So here they have a game for which 250,000 people give them 10 (or 15?) bucks each month, that's been running great, making them a ton of money, and what do they do? They get greedy.
And the devs in the game industry wonder why none of the players trust a single one of them anymore. Here's a hint: It's because it's all about money, money, money for you tardbillies now.

They could then use that currency to buy anything in game. This is just cutting out one step in between and letting them buy items with money.
The only way this will affect game balance is if the items/ships/upgrades that can be bought with money are better than what you can get ingame. In other words, if there is no way to get those items unless you buy them from the store. |

Bad precedent for all the obvious reasons. I hope CCP gets crushed by this. |

Perhaps you missed the part where these transactions extend to more powerful equipment or ships? Or that EVE is already a subscription-based game and now we have microtransactions on top of this? Or one of the devs comparing virtual clothes to real clothes, which actually have a cost factor while virtual goods have none? Eve already allows you to buy a Plex with real money. These can be sold on the market and judging by the article the approx cost of a plex is 390 million isk. Everything in eve is for sale with enough money, I don't see this making things much different. People with a lot of money can buy all the best equipment without doing much work. The main difference is that the players do no provide the items, ie no one is running missions and such to earn these valuable items.
Assuming you can sell these items it will be interesting to see what the prices are and if you can earn a boat load more isk by selling something from this store rather than selling a plex. |

| You mean CCP is now going to charge players for stuff they use to give out for free and under the table and only to select Corps they were attached to? |

| Considering the various controversies that CCP has found themselves in with EVE over the years, it's hard to understand how they have any credibility any more. |

Well it seems people are stupid enough to wanna spend $60 on a virtual jacket ect can't blame the devs for opening it up to make more $$. No one's doing this for free we all gotta make a living, and spend the $$ how we want.
And if its really going to make the game unbalanced, they are shooting themselves in the foot because ppl will quit playing if it gets that bad |
