I really like the idea of a good WW 2 TBS game. Too bad they don't offer a demo or a less expensive "starter" version.

Problem is, the CC series was never a TBS. It is real-time. CC3 was perhaps my most favorite with lots of tanks and close quarter, urban battles focusing on the Eastern front with the Soviets. CC4 was the hardest for me. Given the crap the US had to deal with, I had a hell of a time surviving the campaign.

I can get into almost any scale (individual to brigade). I like the idea of having a lot of stats (weapon ranges, arcs, armor thickness, etc.), but generally get frustrated with how it's implemented. If it is muddled by a frustrating (to me) control interface, like the Combat Mission series, I can't stay with it long.

Maybe throw out some of the ones you think are the best and I'll give them a look?

This is a real-time tactical (control individual soldiers) series of games.
If you are looking for a turn-based World War II strategy game, I have plenty of suggestions to offer. What scale are you looking for: individual soldiers, companies, battalion, regiment, brigade, division, corps?
