For the film, I was OK with it so long as they leave it alone. It was a way to "reboot" the series and do different things without the trekkies flipping out about broken cannon. No matter how many times JJ and company could stand on stage and say "it's a new reality" they wouldn't care and would rage about something wrong with Pike.
Saying "It's different because of time travel" about 20 times in the film though apparently calmed them down.
I'm fine with it, just don't have subsequent films be about more time travel or people from the Prime universe visiting them.
Yeah, exactly. They've set a new timeline, fine. But I don't want Bill, or Picard or Data or anybody else showing up. It needs to stand on it's own from this point on. And I'm betting they'll do that.
As an extremely casual Trekie, I actually enjoyed the last movie, even with Nemoy sandwiched in.

Leonard Nimoy's small part in the recent film was OK, but I think it should end there. And as much as I've started to like Shatner for his recent wacky stuff I don't want him in the next Star Trek film.
Trek has got to stop the time travel shit for awhile...it's become nothing but a crutch for when they run out of ideas.
The fact that "Enterprise" started around a time-travel Pilot and general plot-line was quite weak.

However the 'Enterprise' series finale was a slap in the face... it was a Star Trek: The Next Generation episode taking place aboard the holodeck. With one of the TNG characters playing out the events of one of the final voyages.
WEAK. Even if you didn't like the show you have to admit that was silly (since TNG ended a LONG time ago).

Dammit.
My desk, chair, and monitor have been leaning more and more with use, a thick carpet has aided this. So today I got the level out and decided to make everything level through strategic use of shims. Everything is supposedly level now but it actually feels more crooked than ever.
I'm taking the level to my head next, perhaps that's the problem. |

Saw GL last Sunday. Wasn't bad, but wasn't particularly good, either. But RR and Blake Boring certainty didn't help things.

As bad as some people said GL was, and as much as some people hated casting Ryan as Hal...
I would have flipped... the... frell... out if they dared to cast Jack Black. Ignore the look and the physique, he makes Ryan look like an Oscar-worthy drama actor.
NO No no
Sure, it could've gone the way of Galaxy Quest as a way to mock its own plot / genre. But considering how unfamiliar GL is/was it wouldn't work. A Superman-mocking thing perhaps.
That's one movie I'm glad didn't happen.
-PS- Will probably see GL on Friday. |

Good call. I went ahead with a 560 that's overclocked from EVGA, since I'm already breaking the bank as it is, and anything over that looks like I'd have to replace the PS as well.
Thank you! |
