Star Wars: The Old Republic Interviews

This interview on Gaming Illustrated was conducted at E3 where BioWare's James Ohlen spoke with them about Star Wars: The Old Republic, the upcoming Force-powered MMORPG. Topics include the reaction to the game's E3 showing, how they are ensuring the game will have enough content upon launch, the story, advanced classes, operations, what he will do once the game is out, what he would say to people waiting for the beta, and more. There's also a video interview on G4tv.com from E3 talking with Blaine Christine. Word is: "He talks to us a little bit about player vehicles and companion characters-- and he also gives us some insight on how Bioware's going to meet everyone's expectations. His thoughts? 'Don't worry; we've got it handled'."

Bioware because they DO have the ability to innovate and make a quality game.

They do? Bioware's made plenty of games that veer between good and comfortably familiar, but I can't remember them doing anything particularly innovative. In fact, Bio's games are legendary for following a set formula with characters and story, with just an occasional foray away from pause-flail-pause combat that's only been successful in Mass Effect.

I suppose you might say NWN's focus on player content might have been innovative, but Bethesda did a similar thing with Morrowind around the same time.

I'm looking forward to ToR, in the same way I look forward to a sunday roast. I'm expecting WoW+StarWars+Bioware, and I'm expecting it to be as warm and comfortably familiar as roast beef. I'm not, to carry the dinner analogy far too long, going to sit down to my sunday dinner mysteriously expecting sashimi and miso soup, then scream when the roast hits the table.
