Since they just pushed it out the door to get the IP, shuold have been a $30.00 game, but if you haven't bought it yet, I would wait for a $20.00 sale, or rent it on the console.
I wouldn't rent it on consoles. Apparently the console ports are pretty lousy, with erratic framerates, control issues and excessive load times. From a technical standpoint, the PC version is vastly superior and doesn't suffer from any of these issues.
As for the demo, I wouldn't call it an accurate representation of the game. The demo had very limited platforming and most of the combat took place in large outdoor environments. In the full game, there's a lot more platforming and most of the combat takes place in small interiors. The desert/mine level in the demo is also one of the less interesting levels in the full game.
On a side note, the WSJ reviewer actually laments the lack of QTEs for Duke's execution moves. He also criticizes the fact that the pig cops aren't just regular cops with pig heads like in Duke3D, even though the pig cops in DNF are much more interesting from a gameplay perspective. So... yeah. You're free to feel about DNF however you like but I wouldn't pass any judgment based solely on the WSJ review.
