The Star Wars: The Old Republic Website now offers a new trailer showing off Eternity Vault, an operation (raid) from BioWare's upcoming MMORPG. Here's the description: "A terrible threat has been uncovered on the ice world of Belsavis; a danger so grave that it could make the conflict between the Republic and the Empire irrelevant. Groups of heroes must band together to venture into the ancient and deadly Eternity Vault—where an enemy older than both the Republic and the Empire has been contained… until now."

Does everything have to look like the smooth cartoony low poly world of warcraft because of false correlations marketing men have made between that look and success? They use simplistic graphics so that the game can run on the largest number of PCs.

A comment on Kotaku I saw about the CGI trailers writing checks the game can't cash seems... apt. Does everything have to look like the smooth cartoony low poly world of warcraft because of false correlations marketing men have made between that look and success? MMOs are a zero sum game anyway - these games are so jealous of players time tjey don't let any other games (or any other activity for that matter) in.

Yea they have been staying away from showing uncut gameplay because they know just how similar their gameplay is to WoW. Where as with Guild Wars 2 we've had half a dozen uncut videos showing gameplay, including this gem. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRI_twOZ8hI&feature=player_embedded

We saw a 5 man instance (or whatever buzzword they used) with fairly minimal editing a couple months ago. It was World of Warcraft with lightsabers.
